Seth Priebatsch, founder and CEO of SCVNGR, famously sleeps on the office couch -- when he sleeps -- dreaming of the next million users of his location-based games.

Jason Jacobs, FitenssKeeper CEO, runs the Boston Marathon in a smart phone costume, part of his relentless efforts to promote his top-selling fitness apps.

Boston is America’s premier college town, after all, so it’s no wonder that it’s a hotbed of young entrepreneurs designing the newest, cool-est, smartest mobile apps.

But Massachusetts is also a longtime com-munications technology hub. It was here

that Alexander Graham Bell uttered his famous words, “Mr. Watson, please

come here.” And it was here that computers first started talking to each other and BBN helped cre-ate the Internet.

So it’s no coincidence that Bos-ton is leading the way in mobile. That Android was conceived and designed here by local telecom

veteran Rich Miner’s team. Or that serial entrepreneur Ash Dahod

created a dominant mobile multime-dia platform called Starent. Or that

network companies like Akamai and Acme Packet are becoming mobile powerhouses.

It’s no wonder Boston is leading world in mobile innovation, with 400 companies employing more than 30,000 people. Or that global giants such as Google, Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, Nokia and eBay have all come to Massachusetts to buy companies and technologies.

Silicon Valley has its web-based behemoths. China and India are cre-ating big infrastructure suppliers. But in Massachusetts, our specialty is innovation. And now it’s mobile innovation. The mobile revolution starts here.
