rock types, environmental hazards, etc.). Transportation will be provided from the Portland Service Center. The first date will be at Camp Arrowhead, where we will spend the entire day on the climbing wall learning basic climbing techniques and rope skills. The second day will be on a real rock face outside of Stevenson, Washington. The third date will be at Smith Rock State Park near Terrebonne, Oregon. You must attend one of the first two dates to attend the Smith Rock trip. All food, equipment, and materials will be provided and are included in the registration cost.

Our Chalet Patrol – June 2016

Take the trip of a lifetime to the first and oldest WAGGG’s World Centre in Switzerland! Hike some of the most popular trails in the Adelboden valley, rock climb, experience unique cultures and towns, and make new friends. Check out the breathtaking Swiss Alps while you participate in Our Chalet’s Swiss Challenge with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world. Girls must be 14 years or older at the time of the trip. Complete the Travel Patrol Application at girlscoutsosw.org/events/travel. Adult chaperones are needed for this trip. Attention girls 12-18! Do you dream of travelling the world? Why wait - apply for a Girl Scout destinations trip today! There are dozens of trips to choose from, from “Rainforest, River & Reef” in Costa Rica to “Wilderness Adventure Photography” in California. You’re sure to find a trip just right for you! 2015 destinations information and application forms can be found starting September 19 at forgirls.girlscouts.org/travel. Send completed applications to [email protected] by November 1, 2014. Once accepted, girls will be eligible to apply for a D-Pass grant to help cover some of the costs of the trip!

Rock to Pocket Tour & Treasure HuntGirl Scouts role-play how the rock (gold) moved from the mines to the mint. Each girl will discover answers to questions about Oregon and Wells Fargo’s history. Everybody will receive a “treasure” for their efforts at the end of this event. Earn the limited edition Wells Fargo Fun Patch at the Wells Fargo History Museum in downtown Portland.

Panning for GoldGirl Scouts and leaders can try their hand at panning for gold in this amazing interactive exhibit in the Wells Fargo museum. After they glean some “gold” they can calculate its current value, and learn about Wells Fargo’s history of delivering gold from Oregon’s mines to the San Francisco mint through the beautiful museum displays. Wells Fargo History Museum

The Wells Fargo History Museum in Portland shares the history of Wells Fargo in Oregon. You will see an 1854 Concord Coach and find out how Wells Fargo connected Oregon’s communities through the Cal- Oregon Stage Line and steamboats on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. The museum is open to all grade levels and offers educational programs for free.
