Product features

The Slimdrive EMD is an electro-mechanical swing door drive for interior and exteriordoors and is characterised by quiet running properties.

Slimdrive EMD and EMD-F are tested in accordance with DIN V 18650.

Small outer dimensions, 70 x 120 x 650 mm (h x d x w) allow the use even in the case of

limited space, in particular on narrow profiles,

max. width of leaf 1400 mm

max. weight of door leaf 180 kg (EMD) or 230 kg (EMD-F)

application of the systems: pulling or pushing(hinge side and opposite hinge side)

Slimdrive EMD-F:

The closing force is infinitely variable from size EN 3 to 6 for different widths of door

leaves in accordance with EN 1154.

The drive system is used to automatically open and close fire-proof doors. The system can beactuated via the usual pulse generators. Besides automatic opening and closing, the doors canalso be held in an open position.

In the case of fire, the automatic function or the hold-open function must be switched off by acorresponding fire alarm system. The door is closed by spring force.

Door closers with automatic opening function (swing door drive) in accordance withDIN 18263 part 4 are therefore an integral part of hold-open mechanisms and require approval bythe building supervision authorities.

The Slimdrive EMD-F is a hold-open device in accordance with the directives for hold-opensystems issued by DIBt*). Please note, that the fire-proof door must have an appropriate verificationof suitability.

Accessories for EMD-F on fire-proof doors

For Slimdrive EMD-F the following items are required for the use on fire-proof doors:

Slimdrive EMD on WC-compartments for the handicapped

Functional description

After the pad switch has been operated, the toilet door opens and closes automatically upon lapseof a predetermined hold-open time.

By operating the changeover switch inside the toilet cabin, the user activates the illuminated sign“OCCUPIED“ outside the compartment as well as the control lamp at the changeover switch.Simultaneously the interior and exterior pad switch is switched off. Thus the door can neither beopened by another person nor by the user himself by accident.

To leave the lavatory, the user again operates the changeover switch; the sign “ OCCUPIED“outside the compartment as well as the control lamp go out.

By operating the interior pad switch “DOOR OPEN“, the door will immediately open.

In the case of power failure the user can open the door manually by pushing or pulling it open, theclosed-circuit opener is unlocked.

The door can also be opened from inside by operating the door handle even if the system is live. Inan emergency the door can also be manually opened from outside using a key or by operating theemergency cutout.

Open-circuit principleTypical application: entrance door, compulsory for fire-proof doors

The locking process is made by the open-circuit principle, i.e. the door remains closed as long as thelock is not live or actuated. The door is unlocked either by short-term actuation or permanent contact(permanently open). In the case of power failure the door remains locked and can only be openedmechanically via the cylinder or the door handle.

Closed-circuit principle

Typical application: RWS system

The door is locked as long as the system or the door opener is live. To open the door the circuit is

closed for a short time by deliberately breaking the contact. The holding magnet of the door opener fallsoff and the door is released.Breaking of circuit means permanently open.In the case of power failure the door is automatically unlocked.
