Chromebook Information
Jeffco started TechForEd, a district-wide 1:1 learning device program, in the 2019-20 school year.
As the parent/guardian of a 5th/9th grade student for the 2020-21 school year, we want to share
details about what the roll out of this program will mean for your family. This year, every Jeffco
student entering 5th and 9th grade will receive a NEW Lenovo 300e touchscreen Chromebook or an
Apple 7th generation iPad (your school made the choice) as their District 1:1 learning device.
Students will keep this device for the next four years to customize and enhance their learning
experience at school and at home.
The "Personalized Technology Use Fee" of $50 that you will see on your fee sheet, combined with
funding from the 2018 5A mill levy override, helps cover costs associated with the TechForEd
program, including the device and its protective case and various digital learning tools.
The TechForEd website includes more information about device expectations, care, troubleshooting
support, district-wide digital tools, and digital wellness support for families, such as internet privacy,
screen time, and cyberbullying. You can also monitor--and restrict, if you choose--your student’s
activity on this device through the Securly Home App.
Finally, we recommend that you purchase a warranty for this device to cover accidental damages,
such as broken screens and keyboards. An unlimited, four-year warranty is $111 through Lenovo.
