It took a lot of
"guts" (courage) and
p e r s i s t e n c e f o r
Bartimaeus to get the
attention of Jesus over
the din of a noisy throng
who crowded around
Jesus as he made his way
out of town. Why was the
crowd annoyed with the
blind man's persistent
s h o u t s ? H e w a s
disturbing their peace and
in t e r rup t ing J e sus '
d iscourse . I t was
common for a rabbi to
teach as he walked with
others. Jesus was on his
way to celebrate the
Passover in Jerusalem
and a band of pilgrims
followed him. When the
crowd tried to silence the
b l i n d m a n h e
overpowered them with
his emotional outburst
and thus caught the
attention of Jesus

the Holy Rosary
Rediscover the joy and peace that meditating on the
Holy Rosary can bring you. We recite the Rosary before
each weekend Mass. However, everyone is encouraged
to pray the rosary always. The Family that Prays together, Stays together.
Thursday, November 1st is a Holy Day
of Obligation ( ALL SAINTS).
We are expected to attend Mass. Masses
will be held by 7:00am and 6:00pm.
November 2nd is ALL SOULS DAY As
a Church Family we will have Mass at
6:00pm for our dead ones. We are
requesting pictures of your deceased ones
which will be placed on a special table.
Please put a name tag to your pictures for
easy collect at the end of November. A
box will be provided to drop off your
pictures.

It’s a wonderful gift of prayer to have a Mass offered for a deceased loved-one or for
a special intention. Make your Mass requests at the Rectory. Weekend Masses are
reserved for the Parish only. You may make your request for Mass Intentions
Tuesday through Friday.
St. Joseph’s Society Of The Sacred Heart 125th Anniversary
Celebration Weekend - November 16-18, 2018
We do have 14 members of our church who are ready to represent our
parish for this wonderful celebration. Donations are welcomed, please
call Winifred Maiben for further details.
The St. James Major Parish Grief Support Group will be meeting and every Sunday
after Mass between 11:00am - 12:00pm in the Parish Center. This group will reach
out to many of our church members who are going through grief for their deceased
love ones. Coordinators have been trained are ready to take on this noble task. So
come out and join us in supporting each other through grief. A sign up sheet is also in
the back of the Church for those who wish to sign up and join.
A special way to remember and pay
tribute to our deceased loved ones is to
make a contribution on their birthdays to
the SJM School Endowment Fund.
C o n s i d e r m a k i n g m e m o r i a l
contributions in memory of your
grandparents, parents, children and other
relatives annually on special days.
Contributions may also be made at any
time in honor of living family members
and friends. No contribution is too small
and, at your request, a card will be sent
to an honoree or bereaved family. To
make a tribute gift or a donation to the
Endowment Fund, please contact Sybil
Whitfield at 471-3978.
