HEARTBEAT CONNECTION STORIES These authors share some amazing stories to provide children with the opportunity to learn. Straight from the heart!

he Parts We Play. by Michael Jr.

Family oriented comedian, Michael Jr., tells the story of one little girl's trip to a fun park with her dad. On the way to Jr. Island, the parts of their car decide to quit doing their jobs. Will the little girl and her father ever make it to Jr. Island? Will the car parts ruin everyone's day? Will they learn a lesson about working together?

This challenging and entertaining book will help your children realize that no matter who they are, they will always have really important parts to play in life.

About the Author

Once in a generation, a comedian comes along who speaks to everyone. Today, that comedian is known simply as Michael Jr. Imagine a line from Bugs Bunny to Bill Cosby and you'll have an idea of Michael's influences.

T Watch him onstage and you'll see a man at ease...with himself, his audience, and his message. Listen to his voice and you'll detect a comfortable, conversational style that hides a sly sense of mischief. Hear his words and you'll laugh at the universal themes that connect us all. Michael's entry into comedy was almost preordained. Years ago in a crowded Grand Rapids, Michigan movie theater, the projector malfunctioned. The film snapped, the house lights came on, and acting on a dare, young Michael jumped in front of the restless crowd and took center stage. When the theater manager tried to usher him out, the audience demanded he stay...and Michael Jr. discovered his gift. Comedian George Wallace offered Michael his first break when he took him to the legendary Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, home of Jay Leno and The Tonight Show staff. The club's owner slipped Michael onstage...and a week later Michael was performing at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, where he became the first comedian to ever appear live via satellite on The Tonight Show. That performance catapulted Michael's career and has resulted in additional appearances on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, The Late, Late Show, BET, Jimmy Kimmel Live, SiTV, The Byron Allen Show, and many more. www.michaeljr.com

Just Being AudreyBy Margaret Cardillo From Roman Holiday to Breakfast at Tiffany's when Audrey Hepburn starred in a movie, she lit up the screen. Her unique sense of fashion, her grace, and most important, her spirit made her beloved by generations.

But her life offscreen was even more luminous. As a little girl growing up in Nazi-occupied Europe, she learned early on that true kindness is the greatest measure of a person--and it was a lesson she embodied as she became one of the first actresses to use her celebrity to shine a light on the impoverished children of the world through her work with UNICEF.

This is Audrey Hepburn as a little girl, an actress, an icon, an inspiration; this is Audrey just being Audrey.

My daughter enjoyed every bit of the story and since she is a little ballerina it was easy for her to connect with Audrey.

"I never think about myself as an icon... I just do my thing." - Audrey Hepburn

Margaret Cardilloearned her MFA in creative writing as a James A. Michener Fellow at the University of Miami. A former children's book editor in New York City, she now lives in South Florida. This is her first book for children. You can visit her online at www.margaretcardillo.com

Julia Denos has illustrated several children's books, including GRANDMA'S GLOVES, DOTTY, and SOJOURNER TRUTH: Path to Glory. She received her BFA in illustration from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Julia lives in Massachusetts. You can visit her online at www.juliadenos.com

lena Kirby's Wedding Tips on Glamour, Gifts, and more

What are some Glamourous Unique gifts that someone could buy for a Wedding Shower or Wedding Gift? Give something that is made by an Artist, Glass Blown, dishes, original, one-of-a-kind. Something that has a story behind the pieces. It's also fun to offer a getaway weekend certificate to a resort or a night at an inn. Lampe Berger, designed in Paris, France has an over 100 year history. Our most expensive Lampe Berger is a collector's item and retails for around $800.00. Lampe Berger is a sophisticated, decorative and functional piece, that most couples don't have when their starting out. Used to purify the air, and fragrance in a variety of trademark scents. Also popular are our lines of different collections of dinnerware sets from Maxwell Williams. The elegance of a basic white dinner set would please any bride. La Loul knives from France are another great signature piece for any wedding.

When someone uses flowers in their wedding what kind would you recommend? The most important thing is to stick with what is in season, and keep it simple. Stay with your theme - if you're having an exotic wedding, orchids work well, for a more garden or country wedding we might suggest daisies. Hydrangeas are also a beautiful and versatile option.

The trend is crisp lines, simplicity and modern. Some brides love to save their flowers forever and so we offer a few artificial flowers like Roses and Hydrangeas.

How would you know how many chocolates to buy for a wedding? We love our litte boxes of two truffles. Just enough to say ah and enjoy the delicious decadence of Godiva chocolate. They offer the finest well know quality chocolate. Your budget, how many guests will determine the perfect order for a special wedding.

Which is your favorite or most memorable wedding party? My daughter's wedding was an outside setting and I loved the color combination of turquoise and the white tents on the lawn. It had a Resort feeling with a million candles lit. Home Weddings are the Top of the Top. They add that personal touch. There are some Gorgeous weddings out there but when it's coordinated down to the last detail the wedding shines. Every detail counts.

What is your favorite item you ever saw at a wedding? Arthé - Hand designed ceramic art. One of a kind.

What is essential for a special wedding? Good music, good food, atmosphere, comfortable seating. Charm and intimacy, floral arrangements, classic design. The wedding should be personal, what the Bride and Groom want their special day to be. They should always get the wedding day they want.

But truly an artist Jacquie is. You only have to taste her product to realize that. Actually meeting her is a bonus!

It all started in 1990. Summer CookingCheryl Flothe shares her thoughts on traditional foods and some special recipes!

FATHER’S DAY RECIPESMark your calendars for the 19th this month! It’s Father’s Day again---time to break out the barbeques, make Dad breakfast, or otherwise honor the fathers in your life. I have found no religious or other references to Father’s Day before the 20th century, except an informal observance by Elmesu, a young Babylonian who put his hopes for a long life and good health for his father on a clay tablet. Although Mother’s Day was officially recognized in the earlier part of the 20th century in the U.S., it took longer for the Father's Day idea to be widely accepted. Some people held celebrations honoring fathers at churches and communities by 1910, and the YMCA and YWCA continued to support the idea. Finally, after many years of unofficial Father’s Day events and at least one proposal by the U.S. Congress, in 1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a bill creating a nationally recognized Father’s Day to be held the third Sunday in June every year. Today, Father’s Day is recognized on different dates all over the world.

As Father’s Day is associated with family activities, here are a few simple recipe ideas Dad or his loved ones can whip up:

Getting ready for summer trips! To keep the kids happy in the car, my mother-in-law just gave me a bag of pencils, word find books, some etch n sketchs and a fun list of games to play. This should keep them occupied for a few hours while we travel the roads this summer.

So now would be a great time to get organized for our family road trip and I loved reading Beth's tech tips to help me out!

Beth Gatrell, provides some tips for , "Into Tomorrow" on the new technology that is available to keep our to do lists organized.

Here is her tech tip on to-do lists...

Into Tomorrow's Tech Tip of the WeekMake your technology work for you!

Tech out your to-do list … Most people can use a little help remembering things they need to do, and making To-Do-Lists is a great way to help. By using Apps like Seize the Day and Pocket ToDo you can make lists of things you need to do, as well as set simple reminders that can alert you in many ways including text or email. Remember the Milk is another great app that lets you create lists with alerts and more on either your smartphone or PC.

With the GPS ToDo List you will be alerted when you are near places on your list in addition to the reminders you set. Astrid is another App worthy of checking out if you have an Android device, and Blackberry users may want to take a peek at Honey dew.

Of course you can always use the calendars on your smartphones and email programs but most require a lot more information that just a simple reminder or creating a To-Do List. For those that like to print out their list's, check what’s available on Printable ToDo Lists and Ta Da Lists where you can create lists for everything including things to pack for your trip and thank you notes to write. Don’t forget to add a trip "Into Tomorrow" to your list as well! Beth Gatrell www.intotomorrow.com
