“music is my freedom. I can make any beat and lyrics and some-

one……someone out there will relate in one way or another to what message I am trying to get

across”21 Year Old English songwriter/singer and DJ HaychPee caught the eye of American hip hop producer B DAIN in the early months of 2010 in which he signed her to his label. Her demanding approaches towards her skilful mix tapes and witty lyrics outcasted her from the other female artists in her music genre which set her standards into high popular demand.

“music is my freedom. I can make any beat and lyrics and someone……someone out there will relate in one way or another to what message I am trying to get across”. She is largely influenced by artist such as SWV, The late Aaliyah, Anita Baker, Timbaland and many more. HaychPee was first feautured in Pulse in July 2008 as a rising act in the Music Matters magazine feature. Her works have been compared to American Rnb star Toni Braxton with a concotion of UK garage queen Ms Dynamite. You can’t turn a corner without seeing her trademark coloured lipstick all across the music magazines. She worked hard to get where she is now by per-forming at local gigs and creating youtube videos for her dedicated fans. HayPee de-cided to try America and see where it could take her. All we can say, it’s the best thing she could of ever done.

So, how does it feel being the first UK breakfree female artist to be working with the likes of B-DAIN and SEESTA...

Omg! feels like I’m dreaming ....it’s a world away from the stuffy recording studios back in Camden warming up pot noodles with the broke down Argos kettle for a quick snack .You forget to eat your three meals a day as you are working so hard trying to relase the next upcoming track. people are getting to know me through B DAIN...If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be where i am now. He’s an amazing partner to work with as he is leading me also in how to deal with the fame. I have been dreaming of this moment for a good while now, I feel it’s time to shine and show those what they have been missing in the music world.

Why do you think people love HayCHPee so much....

You live once. I don’t see the point of copy-ing somebody to the point when you look and sound like a clone. I’m inspired by other music artists but I like the ones who tell a story about their life; connect through the beat and the lyrics. “music is my freedom. I can make any beat and lyrics and some-one……someone out there will relate in one way or another to what message I am trying to get across”. I’ve grown with the likes of Mary J Blige and thought “Wow, I want to achieve all that too someday”. She was an artist that didn’t sing about making money and shaking your lady parts for attention. even in this day and age young girls/boys will look up to me saying the same thing so I have to set a good example. I am not doing his just for them but for me also as it keeps me grounded.

Describe yourself in three words....

Honest, Determined, Independent

If you could choose any artist to collobo-rate with, who would it be?

Any...oh your spoiling me (laugh). I would choose it sounds like a common answer but Michael Jackson – Rest his soul. who wouldn’t? Every artist in music indus-try can relate to him. his music was diverse from pop, rock, rnb to soul. From the way he got his beats on point and performing too.

What do you think is “living the dream” now you are on the verge of entering the A List world...

I feel it’s balancing my career with being with my family. Nothing can beat sunday dinner. It’s kind of sad how I don’t get to see them as much but it is expected in this crazy lifestyle. I like to treat myself occa-siaonally with clothes and meeting new peo-ple on my travels. From meeting new people I had created a new memeory to add to my diary and this is only the beggining.
