About the Role The purpose of this position is to manage and coordinate the implementation of research strategic directions by fostering excellence in research, and increasing the profile of Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) nationally in terms of the standing of its research and how it informs practice.
Key Responsibilities
Research Responsibilities In consultation with the Head of Practice design research activities to inform clinical practice and strategic directions of the organisation.
Determine methods to be used in data and/or information collection based on best practice.
Process data/information and draft and present reports resulting from research and other related activities.
Utilise project management skills to provide structure to and ensure a common understanding of timeframes and project stages, specific to research activities.
Ensure the implementation and regular review of governance processes specific to the area of research within RAQ.
Make recommendations to the Head of Practice and the Executive Team based on research results, in the context of best practice and current research findings.
Research Responsibilities Specific to External Engagement
Represent RAQ at forums regarding the management of research.
Establish and foster ongoing working relationships between potential and current research partners.
Produce scholarly papers for publication and conference presentations.
Liaise with national and international research organisations and associations, including the Relationships Australia National Research Network.
Commercial Responsibilities
Actively investigate research grant opportunities in order to generate research income.
Investigate other research funding streams through established working relationships and networking activities.
Contribute to the development of tender applications in consultation with members of the Executive Team and the Senior Management Team.
Identify potential future research projects and sources of support for the research program.

Support and guide the Research Department, allowing continual professional development and providing regular performance feedback.
Identify and delegate responsibilities to team members, ensuring organisational priorities are met and departmental outcomes are achieved.
Engage in workforce planning for the department, including the ongoing consideration and recruitment of student placements.
Other Responsibilities Provide advice, regular updates and reports to the Head of Practice and the Executive Team and to the wider management team in areas of expertise.
Collaborate with members of Senior Management to promote organisation cohesion, the development of a culture of continual improvement, and enforcement of organisational values.
Participate in the development of Research Workplans which contribute to RAQ’s Strategic Directions.
Participate in financial management responsibilities specific to the Research Department, including the development of an annual budget in consultation with the Finance Department.

About You To be successful in this position you will have:
Required Highly Desired
Qualifications Postgraduate qualifications in psychology, counselling, social sciences, or health sciences including the completion of a research-based PhD.
Experience
Experience managing and leading research employees.
Experience designing and managing research projects.
Experience writing grant applications.
Experience conducting research in the not-for profit community services sector and using results to inform clinical practice.

Experience solving complex problems and integrating knowledge from a range of sources to develop and report on research projects.
Knowledge Different research methodologies and data analysis techniques, including the application of both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Ethical and responsible conduct of research.
Research evidence on the efficacy and effectiveness of relationship interventions such as couple and family therapy and mediation.
Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present at conferences and workshops, and the ability to translate theoretical, technical, and statistical concepts into accessible organizational and academic reports.
Solid leadership and emotional intelligence skills, with demonstrated ability to engage others, influence organisational culture and provide direction.
Ability to identify opportunities for change and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Excellent time management skills.
Microsoft Office, Email, Excel, SPSS or other statistical software and ability to learn new programs.
