Sherry exprea-ied her appreciation over and over. She i& ex pecting her third chitd but had never had a bridal or a baby shower bC'^ore. We p^m that thojie expre64ions o^ love by our congregation will touch the heart& Ojj Sherry'6 mother and hut band. Since ioe do not have another pre-.6chool teacher, we have accepted no new 6tudentt ^or montPu and now have only 15 enrotied. In the hummer the children attend i^egularly, to we o^en have lest than 12 present. Thus Sue and Henrietta can Just work hal^ days. They do continue to have a daily Bible story and worship time, but instead o{^ structured classes in small groups they do more art and crait projects, water play, etc. The one prospect we had ^or a preschool teacher is taking a mainland position. Most teachers were not trained as missionaries and so the idea raising their own Support is a frightening prospect. Many teachers have expressed an interest •cn coming here, but when they learn they must raise their own support, they go elsmhere. If some congregation would underwrite a good part of a teacher's salary and then recruit the teacher, we would probably be more successful in getting a good teacher. We keep getting requests to take students a}id are tettrng them that we should have a teacher by fall. Please pray that the Lord will provide one [or even two], so that we can take more students and thus contact more new families and keep up the support to the church. The preschool furmshes $500 per month to the church plus buying many supplies which the church uses. We are grateful for the increased contributions to the Mission from which our salary s paid. The checks made out to Palolo Valley Church of Christ go only p^ppses and mortgage payments. So faA_in June we.have received ^ve checks for the mission ilxat were not for regular support. This helps. We trust that by the end of June ice will be able to make up the back salary not taken rn April and May, How we treasure you friends who respond quickly when needs are made known. Several months ago, when the congregation chose six men to chair committees and then to meet together to make decisions and plans, we hoped that at last they ujere ready to assume, more responsibility for the ongoing of the church. However our maintenance chairman moved to the mainland, our Christian Education chairman moved away, our outreach and finance chairmen have become irregular in attendance so we cannot have sche.duled meetings. It seems that we wHl have to resume having month-^ business meetings of the whole congregation. At least then, those who will be makxng the decisions will be the ones who are concerned enough about the church to be present, ojid will be the ones willing to carry out the plans.
