The Mauritius Sugar Syndicate (MSS) is the commercial arm of the sugar industry inMauritius and is responsible for the marketing and export of all the sugar produced locally. Itis a private and independent organization governed by its members, all of whom are sugarproducers, comprising corporate and independent sugarcane growers as well as millers.
Mauritius has specialized in the manufacture of a wide range of “special sugars”, ingenuouslycrafted for locking-in rather than refining out, the natural elements of sugar cane juice whileproviding all the quality and food safety assurances required by the consumer. Being in theunrefined state, the products are more natural and wholesome, retaining the freshness ofsugar cane juice through a complex and delicate blend of flavours and tastes that are typical ofthe sugar cane plant, while exhibiting a pallet of colours and shininess that enhance theirattractiveness to the eyes.
