VP TECHNICAL REPORTPhilip McCrory

Some of my fondest memories of myyouth were moments just before bed

time prayers on my mother’s knee as sheread bedtime stories to me. Of course myfavorite and most requested story was “TheAdventures of Plumber Kent.” Let’s see, Ithink I can still remember some of thosewords:

I have a sink….my sink is pinkI like to scrub……

I like to scrub and rub and rub and scrubI pull the chain and all I scrubbed

goes down the drain with one big blubWHEW!!....... Stink!! Stink!.........what is that stink!??

Pink sink stink I thinkPINK SINK STINK has got to go!!!it comes from stinky pipes below

Trap, trapI need a trap

in a snap I slap a trapon plain main drain

to stop pink sink stinkNow I scrub and rub and rub and scrub

I pull chain to drain and wait for scrub to blubBut wait…

All I scrubbed did not go blub.Did my main drain stub flub?

I call Plumber KentKent is sent

Plumber Kent says I need a ventA vent will help my scrub go blub

a vent will help my pink sink stink vent scentHe worked fast and hard and good

to vent my trap like it shouldBut oh no… Plumber Kent is overcome by stench

overcome by stench he lost his clench and dropped his wrench! Now the vent is bent with dent

and all the money I spent to vent the scent will not help my pink sink stink vent!

Can Plumber Kent fix the bent vent dent to vent scent?Yes he fixed bent vent dent

Yes he fixed it all…for just one cent That Plumber Kent…what a gent

Wow…what a story! I can still remember it to this day. Itseemed in my youth that venting was such a simple thing. Nowwe have wet vents, branch vents, circuit vents, combinationwaste and vents, individual vents, continuous vents…well thelist goes on. Who can keep up with them all?

Fortunately for us, we have Julius Ballanco coming to give apresentation on Venting to the Michigan Plumbing Code. Juliusis known throughout the world for his expertise on plumbing, venting, and expertise on ‘murder and / or suicide by toilet’legal cases. He will explain updates to ‘Venting to theMichigan Plumbing Code’. And yes, he will help your pinksink stink vent scent. All for now…..

Phil
