A message from our executive...
Rock Throwing
I have included a letter from the Moree police about some of our children
throwing rocks at trucks coming along the Highway.
This has resulted in serious accidents occurring where the windscreen is
smashed and the driver has lost control of the rig.
Can you impress on your children the dangers of this practice. The police will
be doing random checks on students on the streets after dark.
Athletics Carnival
This will be held next Friday 31st May at school. We would like to see as
many parents as possible.

Last term year 5 & 6 studied water quality
and river systems with the assistance of the
Border Rivers Gwydir Catchment Manage-
ment Authority.
Firstly Toni from the Goondiwindi office,
who has taken over from Iestyn Taylor, im-
pressed us all by being able to identify seven
unlabeled water samples using her instru-
ments. Students were then taught how to
measure and collect data themselves.
The unit of work culminated in an excursion
to the Thallgarrah Education Centre near
Armidale and then down the rivers to Graf-
ton and Yamba. We were testing water all
the way.
Students were able to use scientific instru-
ments to collect data on water quality and to
study how water bugs can tell a lot about wa-
ter quality as well.
Kiarna Wightman especially impressed her
teachers with her keen focus. Darren Dun-
can discovered a very unusual water bug
which we have been trying to identify with
the assistance of the Australian Museum. No
luck there yet.
The principal at Thallgarrah was very compli-
mentary on the groups Gamillaaraay language
skills. He said were the best Aboriginal lan-
guage students he had met..
Year 5/6 get water wise.
