ABOUT NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERSHIP FELLOWS

A9-monthadvancedleadershiptrainingforcommunityleadersseekingtoproducemoreequitableregionalpoliciesfortheirneighborhoods.Thecohortwillconvene1weekendamonthfor9monthsforlearningsessionscomprisedof:

● EducationalWorkshops-Onpolicies,newresearchandinnovationthatpromoteequitableneighborhooddevelopment(housing,education,economicdevelopment,publicsafety)

● TacticalTrainings-Oncommunication,followability,organizing● PositionalPowerTrainings-Forboards,commissions,committees,andpublicoffice● CollaborativeLearning-Throughdialogue,discussion,andpresentationsamongfellows

andexperts● MentoringandNetworking-Withothercivicleadersandpeers

Duetothedemandingvolumeofwork,highlevelofcommitment,andexpectationofsustainedinvolvementrequiredtobesuccessful,acceptedNeighborhoodLeadershipFellowswillbeawardedamonetarystipendof$2000.NeighborhoodLeadershipFellowsisapartnershipbetweenUniversityofMissouri-St.Louis,MUExtension,andtheSt.LouisPromiseZone.NeighborhoodLeadershipFellowsSTRONGLYencouragesresidentsfromtheSt.LouisPromiseZonetoapply.

PromiseZonetargetareaisoneofonly20federally-designatedPromiseZonesintheUnitedStates.ItencompassesSt.LouisCityWards:1-5,18-19,21-22,26-27;andpartsofSt.LouisCounty,includingthecommunitiesof:BelleriveAcres,Bel-Nor,Bel-Ridge,Berkeley,BeverlyHills,CoolValley,CountryClubHills,Dellwood,Ferguson,FlordellHills,GlenEchoPark,Greendale,Hazelwood,Hillsdale,Jennings,Kinloch,MolineAcres,Normandy,Northwoods,Pagedale,PineLawn,Riverview,UniversityCity,UplandsPark,VeldaCity,VeldaVillageHills,Wellston.
