NU-SS is the official snow sports club of the University of

Newcastle.

The club operates according to its two key values

• To bring students with the common interest of snow activities

together to network and socialise.

• To provide a platform for students to excel at a competitive

level in snow sports events.

Although Newcastle is considered to be particularly far away

from any form of snow the club is extremely active, holding

many social events as well as two large snow trips.

The following pages provide an insight into what the NU-SS is all

about.

What is NU-SS?

NU-SS Activities & Events

Every year NU-SS stages a variety of events both on and off the

slopes. This is a general outline of the style of events which

organisations can become involved in through sponsorship

opportunities.

Australian University Championships

The Australian University Championships (AUC) are the hallmark

event for the club. Each year around 600 students from universities

all over Australia come together for a week of competition. In 2013,

the event will be held at Thredbo.

Social Trip – New Zealand

In 2011 the club held its first overseas social trip to the snowfields

in southern New Zealand. After a large amount of success, the trip

occurred again in 2012, and the dates are now set for 2013.

NU-SS Activities & Events

Rail Jams

One of the more unique events the club organises is that of rail

jams. Essentially a man made snow park for our members to

demonstrate their abilities, these events are always popular and

provide for spectacular viewing.

2012 saw us hold two rail jams in unusual locations, King Edward

Park and at the university’s own ‘Bar on the Hill’.

Social events

Aside from our on snow activities we also hold a host of social

events including our registration party during ‘Orientation Week’,

AUCs, New Zealand trip reunions and an end of year get-together.

What the NU-SS can do for your organisation

NU-SS has a clear sponsorship philosophy, to provide

maximum value to our sponsors on their investment in a way

which is relevant to their organisation.

In order to create maximum flexibility for your organisation the

NU-SS has created a simple sponsorship structure.

The following pages outline what the club has to offer and the

benefits derived from each opportunity. We are able to create

a customised package based on the opportunities which would

be of most value to your organisation.

We are also open to other innovative ideas which you may

Inclusion on the 2013 Team Uniform

A presence on the team uniform is one of the most coveted

opportunities for organisations. The club uniform is worn by

club members competing at the Australian University

Championships in Snow Sports, to be held at Thredbo in

2013. The uniform is a highly respected item by club

members, all competitors and spectators.

Your organisation will have a presence on the 2013 uniform

as we compete in front of large crowds. The uniform is a

perpetual item often worn for many years by past and

present club members.

Naming rights to our Bar on The Hill Rail Jam

As previously outlined, our Bar on the Hill Rail Jam (pictured

below) is a hallmark event each year for the club. Obtaining

naming rights to the event will ensure that your organisation’s

logo is incorporated into the event poster, event promotional

email and social media posts.

Your brand will also have a highly visible presence at the event in

the form of signage (to be provided by the sponsor). There is also

the possibility to arrange marketing activations during the event.

Naming rights to a NU-SS social event

Social events run by the club are highly anticipated occasions with

long lead in times and build up. Securing naming rights to a social

event ensure that your organisations name is attached to all

promotion undertaken and reviews of the event.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Social Media Exposure

Social media is a key factor in providing information to, and

communicating with, club members and followers. This

opportunity presents a chance to integrate your organisation’s

messages with our Facebook and Twitter accounts with a

combined reach of over 615 people.

Our social media exposure opportunity includes 20 social media

posts in a calendar year with content promoted via an assortment

of mediums as requested by the sponsor.

This includes the display of your business logo on our homepage

for twelve months.
