It’s hard to even begin thinking about winter when Minnesota is now having the best weather of the year as I love Fall! Right now Owatonna truly exemplifi es the tag line “The City of Friendliness and Beautiful Parks”…these near perfect temperatures get neighbors and community members outside to exercise, play and interact with each other. In the next few weeks, the fall colors will be in full swing. I certainly hope you have a chance to get out and enjoy your parks and programs.

This brochure marks the full second year of offering 4 brochures per year. We went to 4 issues so you could have more timely and accurate information. Though the winter issue seems to be quite early, it needs to be published end of September due to registration deadlines. To give you more information and to communicate with you, we offer many options for you to receive the latest news on upcoming events and activities: 1. Check our website at http://ci.owatonna.mn.us/parksrecreation , where you’ll

fi nd everything! 2. “Like” our Facebook pages Owatonna Parks and Recreation, Owatonna Dog Park, Brooktree Golf Course, River Springs Water Park, and Owatonna SeniorPlace. 3. Monthly newsletters and mass e-mails. Sign up for these if you’re not on our mailing list. 4. School Flyers sent out to all kids in Kindergarten -6th grade. 5. News Releases in the Owatonna People’s Press 6. Promotional fl yers hung all over town. If you have any suggestions to better the community, let us know!

We hope you are enjoying the ease of using our registration program, Max Solutions! We’ve completed nearly 2 years with this program and have had a huge increase in the amount of people registering on line and there is no additional fee!

This brochure has some very popular returning programs. Some “New and Improved” and many “New” programs. They include Trick or Treat Trail, Future Sports Stars Camp, Winter Weekend Out,

Polar Plunge, and Black Friday at Brooktree. If you have a suggestion for a “new” program, let us know.

Parks and Recreation is vitally important to establish and maintain the quality and life in a community. Recent studies have suggested that spending time with nature in Parks can improve individual satisfaction in life and makes us less aggressive, anxious and stressed. So, it’s time we place access to nature alongside good health, feeling secure, satisfying employment, positive social relationships as key notes to happiness!

Check out this brochure for all of our upcoming activities and programs!

Enjoy your Parks and Recreation Programs, Activities, Facilities, and Parks year-round!
