CARE & SHARE Recognizing that stewardship goes beyond finances, the emphasis for the 2016 Stewardship Campaign will be on our relationships as brothers and sisters in Christ. Your Stewardship Committee has planned an extensive outreach to every person who is a member or friend of Forest Larger Parish. Our goal is to offer a personal visit to each of you by a pair of elders and/or deacons to better understand the goals and dreams that you hold for our church. These visits will start in the next few weeks and continue into early October. Be expecting a call from your brothers and sisters in Christ to arrange for a visit!

OUR COMMUNITYJULY/AUGUST 2016 4

TRIENNIUMFAITH IS FUN!

Every three years, PCUSA reaches out to the young people of our churches through a conference called Triennium. PCUSA describes it this way:

“The Presbyterian Youth Triennium is a five-day event for high school-age youth (entering freshmen through graduat-ed seniors) and accompanying adult youth leaders. The Triennium is focused on equipping young people to be transforma-tional Christian leaders and seeks to join the home churches of the attendees to help call young people into deeper discipleship in Jesus Christ. The Youth Triennium is a high-energy, biblically-infused and focused, youth-friendly conference.”

From July 19-23, six young women from Forest Larger will be attending the 2016 Triennium on the campus of Purdue University. They are traveling with young people from three different presbyteries: Winnebago (our own), John Knox and Milwaukee Presbyteries. It is a real credit to our ACY that they raised the $505 need-ed for each attendee through brat sales, bake sales, a car wash, Lenten service offerings and individual donations.

The adult leadership of ACY would like to thank those who have supported the efforts of the youth group to make this trip possible. It is a testimony to the gracious-ness and generosity of our congregation.

Eleven adults met at the Essen-haus in Wabeno on Wednesday, June 22nd to discuss the possibility of forming a group of in between age (in between youth group and senior citizen) adults who would meet on a regular basis to enjoy fellowship and fun activities. Several activity options were discussed – kayaking, four wheeling, and skiing, to name a few. The evening was enjoyed by all and included lots of conversa-tion and laughter. A movie night at the Essenhaus is being planned as a kickoff event and another opportuni-ty to gather to discuss other activity options. Watch the Sunday bulletins for the date.

The group has named themselves the “Faith Is Fun Group” and invites anyone who is too old for youth group and too young to qualify as a senior

citizen to join in the fun and offer suggestions for shared group activ-ities. There’s no need to commit to every event, just come when you’re able to join in an activity you enjoy.

Tim and Connie Friesen and Dale and Mary Ellen Keller also encourage ANYONE to join with the Praise Band at the Essenhaus on Tuesday evenings from 5 p.m. to ??? for music and fellowship. You don’t have to be a member of the Praise Band or a singer to come. Just come and listen or sing along and enjoy some food and fellowship!

If you have an idea for the Faith Is Fun Group and would like to be notified of upcoming events, call or email the church office or contact the Kellers at 715-276-7516 or [email protected].

Just a note to let FLPPC know the Prayer Shawl Committee (AKA Knit Wits/Crazy Crocheters) is still functioning. Our members are Terry Severson (Lakewood), Diane Spaude (Wabeno), Cindy Hart, and Linda Men-tz (Laona). Joan Hansen and Sheila Hixon (Lakewood) also donate shawls from time-to-time.

We have given approximately 45 shawls out in the past six years or so.

Shawls are presented for health issues, graduations, births, and loss of loved ones. They are given to church mem-bers/friends and their families and also others in the community in need of prayer. If you know of someone in need of a prayer shawl, let one of our members know or call the church office. We call the individual ahead of time, and two of us will visit them, present the shawl and pray with them, reading the appropriate prayer card for their need. We are always open to additional members. We will even teach you to knit or crochet the shawls. We’re a hoot! Come join the Knit Wits and the Crazy Crocheters!

Thanks be to God for our youth, who are the future of our church, and for the leaders who so faithfully serve in that capacity.
