Big Brother Program (Shomrei’s Partnership with its sister city, Eli)

A Letter from Eliana Passentin

We are pleased to report that the Big Brother Program at the Talmud Torah Hadar Yosef, which many of you have generously supported in the past, has been a major success. Baruch Hashem our small community now includes 50 high-ranking officers in the IDF. This high proportion of officers speaks to the commitment of our community to the defense of Israel, as well as to the type of people that make up our community. That being said, this commitment on the part of the fathers means that their children often are without a parent learning partner. That is where the Big Brother Program comes in to address this important need. The primary objective of the program is to promote Torah learning in Eretz Yisrael. As we are now in Chodesh Kislev, the program has focused on much of the history surrounding the Chag. The fact that our children can see the site of the first battle between the Maccabees and the Greeks from their classroom brings our history and their learning even closer to home. We would like to thank those that have supported us in the past for your contributions to this program.
