The area is also 2nd only to New Orleans, LA, as the largest population center at risk from sea-level rise in the country

Almost all major military facilities in Hampton Roads, including the world’s largest naval base, are threatened by sea-level rise, and as sea level continues to rise so will the likelihood that some of those facilities will need to be relocated

In Miami Beach, a $206 million renovation to their storm water drainage system is being performed due to sea-level rise prolonging flooding after storms events.
