MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH VICTORIA, TEXAS JUNE 11, 2017 SUNDAY, JUNE 11, 2017 THE MOST HOLY TRINITY- SOLEMNITY 1) Exodus 34:4b-6, 8-9 2) 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 3) John 3:16-18 FOCUS : God so loved the world that he gave his only Son. The life and teachings of Jesus reveal to us that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are a community of persons who live together as one in a perfect unity of life and love with one another. As such, we are called to model our lives on the Most Holy Trinity by seeking to give God glory in all we do and by living in love and unity with God and with one another. LITURGY OF THE WORD In today’s first reading from Exodus, the Lord revealed himself to Moses directly as kind, merciful and slow to anger. In the second reading, Saint Paul stresses to the Corinthians the importance of living in peace. The Gospel reminds us that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that all who believe in him might have eternal life. Reading for the following Sunday: SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2017 THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (Corpus Christi) - SOLEMNITY 1) Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a 2) 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 3) John 6:51-58 OUR LADY OF FATIMA Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the church to honor the 100th anniversary of the 2nd appearance of Our Lady of Fatima on Tuesday, June 13th. We will recite the rosary, followed by a talk from Fr. Dominic Nelson-Tawiah. We will also recite the prayers for the special plenary indulgence and there will be time for quite prayer. We hope to see you then! -Pope Francis has offered the following opportunity for a special plenary indulgence that goes through October: “The faithful, with devotion, can visit a statue of Our Lady of Fatima solemnly exposed for public veneration in any church, oratory, or proper place of prayer during the days of the anniversary of the apparitions, the 13th of each month from May to October 2017, and there devoutly participate in some celebration or prayer in honor of the Virgin Mary. In addition, the faithful must pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima. They must also offer to merciful God with confidence, through Mary, their prayers and sufferings or the sacrifices they make in their own lives.” In the Diocese of Victoria, Bishop Cahill with the support of Father Dominic Antwi-Boasiako, has chosen St. Mary’s Church in Victoria to have a special statue of Our Lady of Fatima available for veneration on the 13th of June, July, August, September, and October. This unique, week long retreat, in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in Southern Colorado, is an opportunity for high school age young people to take time away from their daily routine.

~ St. Joseph the Worker Work Camp – July 9 – 12 ~ This 3 day retreat and work camp is an

opportunity for high school age young people to enjoy the beauty of the Spiritual Renewal Center and participate in an event that gives back to the

diocese.

“SAVE THE DATE: The annual "Quo Vadis" Vocations Camp for Boys will be July 2-5 at Cooper's Farm in Ledbetter, Texas. This year's theme will be "Basic Training: going back to the basics of our Catholic Faith." Young men who are currently in 8th grade through 21 years of age are welcome to attend. Please begin inviting young men to save the date to attend this Camp. Priests and seminarians of the Diocese will staff this retreat. Last weeks email there was a registration form that you can print and have available in your parish.
