Willingly Sacrificing for Souls, for Priests: A Promise to Our Lady!

Following the Angel’s instructions, the children grew rapidly in their practice of penance and sacrifice, and prayed almost continuously the prayers the Angel had taught them. They began by giving up their lunch and wearing a tight cord about the waist. They were well prepared when, at her first apparition, Our Lady asked them, “Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you, as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners?” And in the name of all, Sr. Lucia makes the solemn promise, “Yes, we are willing!” This same question Our Lady asks us today. Do we want to offer up our trials and sacrifices for priests, to atone for their sins and to strengthen them in their mission? Do we want to deny ourselves in little things, in order to give our priests and Bishops the strength to be faithful in great mat-ters? Do we want to yield to others in irrelevant mat-ters for the sake of peace, in order to strengthen the Church in unity? Later, the shepherd children realized that the more difficult way was to offer up what the Lord Himself allowed them to suffer: misunderstanding, disbelief and false accusations. In all trials of illness, humilia-tions and reproaches, they faithfully made the offering as Our Lady had taught, “O Jesus, for love of you, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary...” We, too, need not look for extraordinary pen-ances or fasts. If we are generous with the Lord and faithful in our daily trials, He will lead us step by step to accept with peace and submission all the hardships, sorrows and separations which He, in His divine wis-dom and loved, has planned for our lives. This con-formity with His holy will, will bring us peace and joy, even in the Cross. The Strategy of Satan by Servant of God, Fr. John Hardon, S.J.

In a conversation I had some time ago with the chief exorcist of Rome, I asked him about the influence of the evil spirit in the modern world. “It seems to me,” I said, “that Satan is extraordinarily powerful in the world today. God is permitting the devil to tempt and seduce people more than ever nowadays.” He replied, “That is not the way I see it. I do not think the devil is any more powerful than he used to be, but people are allowing him more influence in their lives. In my judgment,” he concluded, “the wide-spread preoccupation with worldly things, pleasures of every kind that modern science makes so easily available to everyone; this immersion in creatures is at the root of the trouble. It gives the devil so much power over the people because they are so forgetful of God.” I think the lesson is plain. If the devil is so effective in misleading souls it is because people are too dis-tracted with the pleasures of this life to even realize they are being misled. Hence the value of looking at the devil for a few minutes, studying his technique, and thus preparing ourselves to cope with his deceit. Why is it useful to look at the master plan of anti-christ? Because to be forewarned is to be forearmed. I frankly do not believe that most people who lose their faith or give up the practice of religion or aban-don their lifetime commitments in marriage or the priesthood or the religious life or who even turn against Christ and His Church do so out of positive ill will. Most of them are victims of the wiles of the devil who, remember, first induced our first parents to lose God’s friendship by seducing them. Satan’s principal weapons then are still his principal weap-ons now. What are these weapons? They are mainly four: telling the untruth, masking falsehood under the guise of truth, making error appealing to our nat-ural desires, and finally releasing the passions that always follow on the commission of sin. Empezaron por renunciar a su almuerzo y usar un cordón apretado alrededor de la cintura. Estaban bien preparados cuando, en su primera aparición, Nuestra Señora les preguntó: "¿Están dis-puestos a ofrecerse a Dios y a soportar todos los sufri-mientos que Él quiere enviarles, como un acto de repa-ración por los pecados por los cuales Él es ofendido, y en súplica por la conversión de los pecadores? Many popular social media sites offer users the ability to tag or share their locations whenever they post. Depending on the site, this infor-mation can be shared with friends, followers, and other people who use the site, regardless of whether they are friends with the user or not. Location sharing is a tool that can be used by predators searching for potential victims. Parents and children need to have open discus-sions about providing information online, highlighting what is safe to share and when it is safe to do so. As a general rule, widespread loca-tion-sharing should be discouraged. To love God is to be saint, and the more we love God, the greater the saints we shall be. There is nothing easier than to love the God of infinite goodness and sweetness, the God who loves us with a personal, intimate, infinite love. We shall most certainly love God if in all our prayers we ask Him for His blessed love. If we know God, we must love Him. There-fore, we must do all we can to know God and fully to under-stand all the wonderful things that He has done for us.
