Due to preparations for our fun-filled summer, most of our branches will not be hosting any afterschool programs, activities or Toddler Times during the month of May. We will be sending out our Summer Reading Lagniappe soon featuring all our upcoming events including performers and crafts. Be sure to mark your calendars and attend your local branch to be a part of this year’s fun. BOOK SIGNING AND STORY HOUR WITH DAPHNE THOMAS FRANKLIN BRANCH LIBRARY MAY 20th at 4:00 P.M. Daphne Thomas was born in New York’s Harlem Hospital but was reared in, and currently resides in, south Louisiana. Daphne is a storyteller, freelance writer, illustrator, flutist, and photographer, who calls upon the cul- tural experiences of Louisiana to develop and tell her original stories. Daphne has been performing for children in Louisiana schools and libraries for several years, and is currently developing new characters designed to help children recognize and embrace the joy of reading. She is a member of the Acadiana Center for The Arts and is a teaching artist in their “Arts in Education” program. Daphne is an artist on the roster at the Ashe’ Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in their “Field Trips” series. She is also on the artist performance roster for the Louisiana Department of Recreation and Tourism. Daphne is a member of the Writers Guild of Acadiana, where she enjoys meeting, interacting with and learning from others who also have a passion for the Arts.

BOOK SIGNING AND STORY HOUR WITH DAPHNE THOMAS

LIBRARY CLOSING

In observance of Memorial Day, all branches of

the St. Mary Parish Library will be closed on

Monday, May 25th. We will re-open for our

regular scheduled hours on Tuesday, May 26th. Thank you and have a safe holiday!

Library Closing

On Friday, May 8th, all St. Mary Parish Libraries will be

closed for Staff Training Day. We will resume our regular

schedule hours on Saturday, May 9th.
