"Do you want to climb over?" Bear asks. Bear is my neighbor. Two other cubs are playing, Akita and her older brother.
7
"Yes," I say.
I ask my ma and pa.
"Yes," they say.
"Here I climb!" I say, hooking a paw over the fence.
I love going to Bear's house. He has a blow up mud slide.
We go down the mud a bunch of times. I do cool tricks on it. I twirl in the mud pool at the bottom of the slide.
"Go down the slide backward," says Akita.
"No," I say.
It’s terrifying, I think, but what if she keeps asking me? That would get annoying.

I try paws first on my belly.
"No, I meant head first," Akita says.
"I'm too scared," I tell her, "so no!"
Then Akita goes backward on the slide. I watch from the top. Her fur sinks in the mud.
It looks really fun, I think.
I feel nervous, but decide it is worth a try. I wipe the fur from my face, hold my breath, and close my eyes.
After I kick my paws, I begin to slide. My head goes into the mud, but I feel great!
“I can make tricks out of this,” I say.
Turns out backward mud sliding is fun, not scary!

Two other kids are playing, Ashley and her older brother.
"Yes," I say.
I ask my mom and dad.
"Yes," they say.
"Here I come!"
I love going to Spencer's house. He has a blow up water slide.
We go down the water slide a bunch of times. I do cool tricks on it. I slide like a penguin and water gets up my nose.
"Go down the slide backward," says Ashley.
"No," I say.
It’s terrifying, I think, but what if she keeps asking me? That would get annoying. I try feet first on my belly.
