A big thank you to Warney and Linc and the rest of the committee in organising a successful annual dinner. I wish Warney all the very best with his move across to playing turf cricket next season and if it isn’t all it’s cracked out to be “He’ll be back”. Thank those who completed the club survey and have provided us with sufficient feedback to progress the club further next year. 3. To all the players who played in teams where selected and assisted the club in turning out full teams for each round of cricket. 4. To all the players who missed out on selection to a team during the season because we had too many players available those particular games. 5. Well done to our one day league team and F grade for making finals this season. Hopefully both teams will go one step further next year. 9. Hi all

So you thought that the 2012/13 cricket season was

done and dusted with the club’s annual dinner at

The Wembley on Saturday 27th April. THINK AGAIN.

The fearless editor of The Reds Review has

demanded another edition of this June journal

which by necessity requires yet another President’s

column.

Firstly, congratulations to all the award recipients at

this year’s annual dinner. Many of you no doubt will

want to keep receiving these awards as you

continue playing for WGCC – the obvious

exceptions hopefully being the Mighty Duck Award

(Grimey) and the Non Compos Mentis Award

(Aggers).

A big thank you to Warney and Linc and the rest of

the committee in organising a successful annual

dinner. I wish Warney all the very best with his move

across to playing turf cricket next season and if it

isn’t all it’s cracked out to be “He’ll be back”.

Congratulations to our inaugural Hall of Fame

members, Damon (Popey) Pope and Paul (Craves)

Craven thoroughly deserving recipients of this very

special category of membership of “The Reds”.

Without reviewing what I have previously written in

my columns during the season and thus my

apologies if I am repeating myself somewhat for the

rest of this article, I would to take this opportunity to:

1. Thank everybody involved in making this

season work as well as it did as we merged

2 rival clubs into 1 GREAT new club.

2. Thank those who completed the club

survey and have provided us with sufficient

feedback to progress the club further next

year.

3. To all the players who played in teams

where selected and assisted the club in

turning out full teams for each round of

cricket.

4. To all the players who missed out on

selection to a team during the season

because we had too many players

available those particular games.

5. Thank you to the steering committee and

this year’s general committee for all your

hard work off the field and out of season to

ensure Warwick Greenwood Cricket Club

got off and running as well as it did

6. Thank you to the team captains for being

prepared to lead/organise your teams

during the season.

7. Well done to our C grade team for winning

the club’s first Premiership flag.

8. Well done to our one day league team and

F grade for making finals this season.

Hopefully both teams will go one step

further next year.

9. Remind all members that the club’s AGM

will be held on Sunday 7th July. There will be

vacancies on the committee to be filled

and we will be looking to delegate a few

tasks to some newly formed sub

committees

10. There will be a working bee at Penistone

clubrooms on Sunday 7th July from 10am. All

are invited to assist and work up a thirst for

the AGM to be held later that day!

and long serving servants of our club. Two

members were inducted this season;

Paul Craven

Damon Pope

THE REDS REVIEW

P R E S E A S O N T R A I N I N G

Pre-season training will commence on September

1st 2013 at Revolution Sports in Shenton Park from

11am to 1pm. Afterwards we will reconvene at

the Wembley Hotel to discuss how well we

bowled or hit the ball. This will happen every

Sunday until the 15th September which will be the

last session at Revolutions.

Training will then commence at Penistone Oval

nets from the 17th September 2013 from 4:30pm to

6pm. Then again as per usual on the 19th

September from 4:30pm to 6pm and continue on

every Tuesday and Thursday until our Xmas break.

The sessions at Revolutions will be about having

an informal net session and utlilising one bowling

machine, just trying to get back into the groove

after a long winter on the couch watching footy.

The first 4 sessions at Penistone will be about

fitness, strength and core training which is

designed to help us get a level of fitness needed

to adequately compete during cricket season.

Obviously you will also need to be doing your

own fitness work to complement these sessions.

We will hold a practice match on September 29th

from 1pm at Penistone. This will then lead into net

sessions at Penistone on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We will hold one more practice match on Sunday

6th October from 1pm at Penistone prior to the

commencement of the season. There will also be

a Patrons Cup game in there somewhere for

those that are keen to get involved in that.

So please come down and be involved in pre

season training, its supporting the club and

yourself in both entitys becoming better at what

we do.

It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has

that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.

A N N U A L G E N E R A L M E E T I N G

Our AGM is coming up on the 7th July 2013 at the

Wanneroo Rugby Club. For those that attended

last years inaugural AGM it is the same place.

Alcohol will be available to purchase and it’s a

great chance to catch up with your cricket

mates. We need all members to attend to

ensure we have a quorum which will mean the

meeting is in accordance with the clubs

constitution.

All positions on the committee will be declared

vacant and will be open to any member wishing

to stand up and be counted.

Positions open will be;

PRESIDENT

VICE PRESIDENT

SECRETARY

TREASURER

GENERAL COMMITTEE – 2

Should more than one person put their hand up

for a position then the position will be decided

by a vote by members attending the AGM.

This season we will be forming sub committees so

we can get more people to help as too few did

too much last year and if we want to have a

successful club then we all need to put our hand

up for even the smallest tasks.

Please have a think about helping out even if it’s

just cooking the BBQ or assisting at training.

The difference between the impossible and the

possible lies in a person's determination.
