IN MEMORY OF PAMELA ‘PAM’ ANNE BOYNE. by Rex and Heather Gilroy

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the sudden passing of our very dear friend, Pamela Anne Boyne, or ‘Pam’ as everyone knew her. Pam was much loved by all who knew her in UFOlogical circles and was a regular attending member of Blue Mountains UFO Research Club, always sharing her latest UFO sighting, usually made in the vicinity of her Riverstone home. Pam had a wide range of interests aside from her artwork, and she had been working on a painting of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse at the time of her death. Her vast library of books said it all; Wicca; fairies; life after death; UFOlogy; archaeology; anthropology; Cryptozoology; the unexplained generally and history as well as her science fiction novels.

She filled her house with ornaments, cats predominating because of her love of them. Her Egyptian deity images watched over her from every bookshelf. Happily her pet cats have found new loving homes. Pam had been a loyal member of our Blue Mountains UFO Research Club since its inception in 1999 and was a regular Skywatcher after every meeting out on Narrow Neck Plateau, where our members have made so many sightings of mystery objects over Burragorang Valley. Her generosity is well known, and besides giving Heather and I Video/DVD movies [usually science fiction subjects] for our movie collection, she provided us with many UFO and astronomical documentaries for showing at our club meetings. I was watching two of these the day that we learnt from Peter O’Brien of her collapse while at her job as a receptionist at Parramatta Legal Aid on 21st

August. Her funeral held at Woronora Crematorium, Sutherland on Friday 29th August, was a “standing room only” event, an example of the great number of friendships she had made, both in her work and in UFOlogical circles and the esteem in which she was regarded by all. Pam, you will certainly never be forgotten, especially by your fellow members of Blue Mountains UFO Research Club. Your enthusiasm is legendary, for you were one of those unique investigators who would brave the elements to see a UFO. One of my fondest memories of you would have to be the night of Saturday 18th June 2004. Following our club meeting, because of the freezing conditions of that day, those members who had planned to join the usual Skywatch out on the Narrow Neck Plateau knoll [where most of our watching is carried out] chose not to take part because of the increasing cold. However, while those faint-hearted members stayed at our house close to the heater, yourself and Angelo Soccio showed the kind of enthusiasm that is the mark of a true dedicated UFOlogist, by joining me on a Skywatch out on the ‘Neck’. Heather drove us out there, but chose to remain in the heated car, while we, with binoculars and torches fought our way up the knoll track with a “90 mile an hour” gale blowing in our faces. From the moment we established ourselves on the summit you began spotting one strange light or another far to the south in Burragorang Valley. To record these sightings and their appearance times I had to kneel on all fours on the rocky ground, holding my notebook with one hand so it would not blow away, while I wrote down each sighting, my torch held in my mouth as I did so. The time was 7.44pm when you spotted that long, dark cylindrical craft, moving high over Narrow Neck from the west, illuminated by two glowing yellowish lights at each end, pointing it out to Angelo and myself as it slowed down to hover above Mt Solitary on the south side of the Jamieson Valley just a few kilometres away. By now the cyclonic wind was dumping sleet upon us, as Angelo began joyfully leaping about with hands raised high – “Oh thank you Rex, thank you, I have seen my first UFO”. We continued to observe the mystery craft as sleet turned to snow, and as the craft once more began moving, slowly heading eastwards towards the coast, you said “I think its time we returned to the house”. We were all frozen but overjoyed at the fantastic sighting that we alone had been fortunate enough to experience. We told Heather as she drove us back to the house where hot soup awaited us, and other members wished they had been there with us to see that airliner-size craft.

night 19th June 2004 as it passed Mt Solitary coming from the west over the Jamieson Valley, where it stopped for a time before proceeding eastwards beyond the coast. Rex Gilroy and Angelo Soccio who were also

present recorded the sighting, Rex Gilroy executing this sketch.

I could go on with many reminiscences, and our fellow club members add many more of their own experiences shared with you. Heather and I will simply say that, like all your other fellow members of Blue Mountains UFO Research Club, you will have a special place in our hearts forever.

RESULTS OF THE GILROY/FOSTER EXPEDITION TO THE CARRAI RANGE, KEMPSEY, NEW SOUTH WALES YOWIE EXPEDITION.

CONDUCTED FOR THE AUSTRALIAN YOWIE RESEARCH CENTRE, PO BOX 202 KATOOMBA. NSW 2780 PH 02 4782 3441

This investigation, part of the on-going “Operation Yowie” project, aimed at gathering good circumstantial, as well as possible physical evidence, on the existence of these relict hominids, began with myself, my wife Heather, and Greg Foster our leading field assistant/webmaster, arriving in Kempsey on Monday 8th September 2008. On Tuesday morning we drove up into the Carrai Range, our destination being the remote region of the Carrai known as the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, which is located on the New England side of the Range. There is a vast wilderness region here containing country not yet explored on foot by Europeans, due largely to its inaccessibility, and it is from within this vast wilderness that old Aboriginal traditions of the Yowies, or “hairy people” have originated. It must be emphasized here that the world ‘Yowie’ meant “Hairy man” or “Hairy people”, not because these hominids were/are covered in long thick hair, but because of the animal [ie marsupial] hide garments they wore like the early Aboriginal tribespeople. Thus the Yowie is no hairy ape-like monster as many people mistakenly believe, but a primitive tool-making, fire-making hominid. In fact, all available evidence points to the Yowie as being surviving remnant populations of Homo erectus, our immediate ancestor.

2008.

Heather and I have made expeditions to the Carrai Range in the past, but apart from gathering sightings reports from Kempsey district residents, we had up to the present been unsuccessful in finding any evidence of continuing Yowie activity in the Carrai wilderness. This is, happily, no longer the case.

Until ten years ago logging had been carried out on the Carrai Range until finally stopped by the State Government. Since then only the odd tourists and four-wheel drive vehicles of campers and others continue to use the one narrow rough dirt road that crosses the range, and then mostly on weekends. Thus the region is mostly quiet and little frequented by people and in the more remote areas quite eerie. Here one often has the feeling of being watched from afar, or even being followed by ‘something’.

It was to such an area that we drove on Tuesday 9th September. As luck would have it we stopped to take photos of a view to the south though trees on a cliffside section of the road. There had been heavy

rain in the Kempsey district the previous Friday, and in the still moist ground near our vehicle, Greg discovered scuff marks in roadside soil. At first I thought he had found lyre bird scratchings but instead, among a lot of indistinct disturbance of the soil, he found two small feet impressions. We cast these and camouflaged them for later pick-up on the way out, so as to save time and continued on.

We did not know it until the casts were picked up [on our way out in darkness] and later cleaned, but it appears that these tracks [both left feet impressions] display pygmy features, for one thing the small toe on each track is placed a little further down the side of the foot than in normal humans. There are traditions of a ‘lost’ pygmy race in remote regions of the east coastal New South Wales mountain ranges, and in the Carrai region in particular.

Continuing on, we eventually explored a remote area, where in a clearing we came across a drying muddy patch containing a mass of animal tracks. Among these we found a number of undoubted small to larger, mostly indistinct and often overlapping hominid feet impressions, and among which despite distortions in the now dried, but originally sloppy mud, we were lucky to find at least eight recognizable tracks.

One of these tracks was that of an undoubted monstrous-sized hominid, for the huge footprint measured 51cm in length by 31.5cm width across the toes and 11,5cm across the heel. It was embedded 5cm deep in the hardened mud. This right foot impression was near another large but somewhat distorted footprint, which was 36cm in length by 29cm width across the toes and 16cm width across the heel, and embedded 4cm deep in the mud. It too was a right foot impression.

We also found two left and right tracks which, allowing for distortion in the originally wet mud and slightly smaller size of the right footprint, were probably made by a single individual. The largest right track was 40cm in length by 26.5cm width across the toes and 14cm across the heel, being 4cm deep in the mud. The left foot impression was also 40cm in length by 23cm across the toes and 14cm across the heel by 3.5cm in depth. These feet impressions had been made by beings of considerable height and muscular strength. The physical structure of these huge footprints compares with others in my collection of Yowie footprint casts. Several years ago I realised structural differences between those of the usually smaller, average human height Yowies and those of these giant-size beings. Both footprint types have the mark of Homo erectus about them, yet they represented two distinct forms. Giant forms of Homo erectus are known from the fossil record in South-East Asia and from my own researches here in Australia also. Other researchers had overlooked the structural differences of both footprint types. I therefore, as the discoverer of this second [giant] race of Yowie, gave it the name of ‘Rexbeast’!

These Rexbeast giants reach up to 3.66 metres in height, their females somewhat below this at around 2.8 metres. It was obvious that smaller large footprints found at this remote site were probable females.

At least three giant-size Rexbeast hominids were represented in these tracks, but there were also small feet impressions of juvenile size beings. By now the daylight was going so we had to leave these tracks until the following day, when we would cast these giant tracks just described, including the best of the juvenile-size specimens, a track measuring 17cm in length by 13cm width across the toes and 6.2cm at the heel, embedded 3cm deep in the hard mud.

However, on our drive out through the forest country, Greg and I had Heather stop the car while we investigated a forested hillside I recalled from a visit some years before, and where there had been claimed sightings of Yowies by campers on a number of occasions. It was here, as we scanned the scrub from a high point that, below us we spied in the dim light four hominid shapes, moving about and obviously aware of our presence, for they stood watching us from some distance away.

I had been first to spot two average-height beings standing on the edge of a clearing, one moved forward to stand beside a tree to observe me. Greg meanwhile spotted two more a little way to the south of these beings. As he watched this other pair emerge from shrubbery one appeared to stand about 2.8 metres tall, the other, smaller figure moved in front of it. Then as we watched, they melted back into the darkness of the forest. After this experience we hurried back to tell Heather. We drove through the darkness along that narrow, rugged dirt road, eventually retrieving the two earlier cast tracks.

On Wednesday 20th September we returned to the Carrai and reaching the footprint site, we cast the tracks just described. We also returned to the scene of the encounter with the four hominids. Searching the area we came upon the indistinct impressions of their footprints in grass. I also found three indistinct tracks at the foot of the tree where that hominid had stood to observe me. Greg meanwhile

Page 9: The Temple of Nim Newsletter - September 2008

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter September 2008

9

found a track through the shrubbery through which his two hominids had emerged, and here he found a freshly snapped branch.

Time was against us and the day once again was coming to a close. We kept a watch here hoping for another appearance of the strange beings, but they did not return and we returned to the car to once more make the slow, careful drive through those ghostly forests on that rough old loggers track back to civilisation.

Plans are already afoot to return to the Carrai in the near future to continue our investigations. Yet what we have already turned up is more than enough evidence to convince us that Yowies, in both their smaller and Rexbeast forms, still roam that vast, eerie wilderness, alongside the mysterious little pygmy folk.

SOUTH COAST UFO ACTIVITY. by Rex Gilroy

Copyright © Rex Gilroy 2008. The following information was provided by Mr Peter Betts on Sunday 24th August 2008. Peter, was at Mt Kembla at 7pm on Friday 22nd August when he chanced to spot a ‘saucer’ shaped craft, about 80 ft in diameter, flying swiftly some 400 ft over the mountain. The night before he was driving on a road at Mt Kembla, when what may have been the same craft, [only this time it was emitting a bright yellowish-white glow], flew high over the mountain.. “People around Wollongong down on the flats must have seen it, and it is certain that the occupants of several cars spotted it the same time I did on the Mt Kembla road. It was seen to descend into bushland in the Mt Kembla area in a really hard to get at location, where it stayed for some minutes before flying off again”, said Peter. Peter also reports that, at 3am on Friday 22nd August a man later told him that he had been in bed, lying with his back to his wife, when he heard her say “There’s someone here to see you”. At this point he woke up and said “What’s wrong”, but found her asleep! He got out of bed and had a look outside in the dimly lit room but saw nothing unusual. Returning to his bed he shut his eyes and had, at this point, an image from his retina of six ‘greys’ [ETs] each of different heights, standing around him. Their faces were rounder than is usually described and they all had prominent eyes. He opened his eyes and the image still followed him around the room. Peter has had other experiences with UFOs in the past. He informs me that 37 years ago while driving home in their utility, late one night to Wollongong, he and his wife saw, from the Princes Highway on the old Waterfall-Bulli road a white light flying overhead. The time was 1.30am and there was no traffic on the road When they reached Cataract Creek the light was still moving. It stopped as he watched it with his binoculars. It then descended at which Peter observed it to be a circular craft with fiant lights around it. The craft descended to 500 ft above Peter and his wife, who became very frightened. It then took off at high speed to the south over the horizon within a matter of seconds.

AN ‘INVISIBLE’ ET ABDUCTION. by Rex Gilroy

Copyright © Rex Gilroy 2008. The previous account by Mr Peter Betts of the Wollongong man who ‘saw’ greys standing around him after shutting his eyes when he got back into bed one night [the image being retained in the retina of the eye] has parallels with the account of Mrs Ruth Cole, at her south coast home on the night of Friday 1st August 2008. She stated that about 11pm, as she lay alone in bed [her shift-working husband had not yet come home] she felt that there was a ‘presence’ in the bedroom. She looked into the darkness as she switched on her bedside lamp. “There was nothing there, I must have been dreaming, I thought, so I switched off the light and closed my eyes. It was then that I ‘saw’ a momentary image in my mind of four bluish-skinned beings in darker garments. They had long, egg-shaped heads, large ears, small round eyes, and mouths that were slit-like in appearance. They wore grey-coloured boots, as they stood back from the bed. One of them stepped forward and pulled back my bedcovers and produced a round, flat silver object which ‘he’ placed on my head momentarily and I suddenly opened my eyes but felt paralysed. All this happened in an instant. But I could not see anyone at all. Yet I felt hands and fingers feeling me all over. I could close my eyes, that was all and as I did so I could see the creatures as they picked me up and I was carried away. Opening my eyes I found myself levitated 4ft above the floor and although the beings or whatever they were, remained invisible unless I shut my eyes, I felt their grips as I was carried off. Yet I was not taken out of the room as such, but I saw instead a ‘haze’ through which I was carried”. Here Mrs Cole was suddenly able to move as she was stood upright. “I could see nothing about me, only a white space of emptiness. As I closed my eyes wishing I could wake up from what I thought was a nightmare, I found I could see a retained image of the four men in an open parkland setting with grass-like plants and background small trees, beyond which were very large, tall buildings reminiscent of our own. The scene lasted only as long as I kept my eyes closed, ‘looking’ around me as I did so. I then noticed some female-looking beings clothed in plastic-looking dresses with a few more males. But for the head shape their body outlines showed what sex they were. I was then ushered towards a ‘car’ of sorts, a blue-coloured square vehicle with three rows of seats somewhat like one of our cars. There was no wheels. I was made to sit between two of the males. Two females joined us. One ‘drove’ the silent vehicle, which was all glass-like so that I could see the surrounding countryside – distant mountains, suburban-like buildings facing the street I was being driven along. Yet whenever I opened my eyes I could not see anything but whiteness”. Closing her eyes Ruth said she noticed that a black box attached to the front of the see-through vehicle, was pressed by a finger of the female driver, at which orange dots momentarily appeared. This apparently drove and directed the vehicle even though there were no mechanical parts or fuel tank as such. “The vehicle entered the ‘city’ I had seen in the distance and I was now aware that we were going towards a big tunnel which as we entered it the car lit up. We turned off on an offshoot tunnel which entered what reminded me of an underground car park and shopping centre, but instead there were various rooms and many more of these people, even a number of children. I was all this time frightened of course and received no replies whenever I spoke. I felt however that these people were communicating by thought amongst themselves. Everyone was looking at me and feeling my nightdress. I was ushered into a large room with a lot of technical apparatuses and tables with all kinds of instruments. Several female beings came forward holding what appeared to be plastic-like garments. They removed my clothes and replaced them with those they were carrying, an orange skin-clinging kind, then I was directed into a clear tall ceiling-height tube with a sliding door. Once in this the door closed. Once again, I could of course only see all this happening whenever I closed my eyes”, she told my informant. Mrs Cole then said that she “felt light-headed, then a ‘gas’ of some kind filled the cylinder from the floor and she blacked out. When she awoke she was strapped naked to a silver table. Two males were moving some kind of vacuum-cleaner shaped wide, hissing apparatus back and forth over her. “They placed a head-size metal ‘helmet’ like thing over my head so that I couldn’t see what was going on. Wires on suction cups were placed all over my body. Then after a time the ‘helmet’ was removed, then the wires. Opening and closing my eyes I saw all kinds of things about the room, as I realised that I was no longer strapped down and could sit up. Yet I felt

Page 15: The Temple of Nim Newsletter - September 2008

Blue Mountains UFO Research Club Newsletter September 2008

15

the beings had done something to me because I felt as if ‘something’ was missing inside of me, as if I felt my body juices had been drained, a hard to explain feeling”. Closing her eyes Ruth collected her thoughts as she continued looking around her, by now surrounded by the males and females. “I stood up but felt weak and collapsed. I woke up on my bed without my clothes. I got up feeling dazed and still a little weak. I put on clothes and went into the kitchen for a drink of water. I could see through the kitchen window that dawn was breaking. I sat down in the loungeroom trying to understand all that I had experienced. I had been returned to my own world by the beings. Closing my eyes I could not see anything as far as those beings were concerned. When Dave, my husband, came home later in the morning I told him all that had happened but he put it all down to a nightmare”.
