MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings have a busy week on tap with three games, starting with a 6:00 p.m. game against Bowling Green on Monday (Nov. 12) in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Vikings will then play either Michigan or IUPUI on Tuesday (Nov. 13) before the week concludes with a 2:00 p.m. contest versus Old Dominion on Saturday (Nov. 17) in the Wolstein Center. CSU opened the regular season with a 92-49 win over Grambling on Friday (Nov. 9) night. Charlie Lee set career-highs in points (20) and assists (7), leading six players in dou-ble figures. It was the 500th home win in program history. Anton Grady had 14 points and nine rebounds, while Bryn Forbes (14), Tim Kamczyc (12), Sebastian Douglas (10) and Marlin Mason (10) also reached double figures.

Volleyball Hosts Horizon League Championship After wrapping up the regular season with a 13-1 Horizon League record, the Vikings earned the No. 1 seed in the 2012 Horizon League Tournament. CSU will be the host of this year’s tournament, with first round action beginning on Friday (Nov. 16). CSU will start play on Saturday (Nov. 17) at 4:00 p.m. in one of two semifinals, and the championship match will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, No-vember 18. All five tournament matches will take place in Woodling Gymnasium. The Vikings, who enter the tournament on an 11-match win streak, concluded the regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Youngstown State on Thursday. CSU is 21-6 on the season, marking the fifth 20-win season for head coach Chuck Voss. Kara Koch, who has a team-high 457 kills this year, finished the regular sea-son on top of the league standings averaging 4.71 kills per set. Koch is also the only league player to rank in the top-10 in kills per set and digs per set (10th-3.31). Classmate Marie Frease is also at the top of the league standings following regu-lar season play with a .354 hitting percentage.

MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING The Vikings will host the inaugural Magnus Cup from Friday through Sunday (Nov. 16-18) in Busbey Natatorium. CSU came up with a 132-111 victory at St. Bonaventure on Friday (Nov. 9) to improve to 6-1 this season. Al Shillito helped lead the way for CSU, picking up one individual win, as one as one relay win. Shillito swam the opening leg of the winning 400-yard medley teaming up with Brian Ferro, Alex Lewis, and Berry Thompson to pick up a 3:26.26 winning time. The junior’s 200 backstroke time of 1:50.69 set a pool record, earning the record-setting win by almost two seconds.

WRESTLING CSU returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 17) when the Vikings compete in the Navy Classic. Action is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. The Vikings opened the 2012-13 season at the Eastern Michigan Open on Nov. 3 with seven grapplers earning mul-tiple wins at the event. Matt Donohoe led all Vikings with a second place showing at 157 pounds, going 3-1. Riley Shaw placed third at heavyweight, going 4-1.

CROSS COUNTRY CSU concluded the 2012 season on Friday (Nov. 9), participating in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Due to in-juries, CSU only had six runners, paced by freshman Maddie Korak who finished 199th overall with a time of 24:42. The regional meet marked the first 6K of the season for Cleveland State, with five of the six runners posting personal-best times. Junior Ashley Berlin was one of the five runners to better her personal-best time, crossing the finish line in 26:51. Three additional freshmen also marked their career-bests; Ashley Lydic (25:44), Megan O’Keefe (27:03) and Amanda Kalain (27:36), while sophomore Katie Webb crossed the fin-ish line in 25:25.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CSU begins a four-game roadtrip this week, traveling to Ohio and Illinois. The Vikings will open the week with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Ohio on Tuesday, November 13, before taking on Illinois at 3:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 18. The Vikings opened the 2012-13 regular season last Fri-day (Nov. 9), defeating South Dakota, 60-46. CSU was paced by its senior trio, including Shalonda Winton who recorded her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 re-bounds. Honesty King added 18 points on a 4-for-6 night from behind the arc, while Kaila Montgomery posted a career-high seven points along with four rebounds. As a team, the Vikings were 18-for-20 from the free throw line (.900), with points from Winton (10-for-11), King (4-4), Imani Gordon (2-2) and Cori Coleman (2-3). CSU also notched 12 steals, 10 assists and 29 rebounds.

MEN’S SOCCER The 2012 Horizon League champions will find out at 5:30 p.m. on Monday who and where they will open play against in the NCAA Championship. The Vikings claimed wins over Valparaiso (1-0) in the semifinals and Loyola (2-0) in the championship of the league tournament to earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. It will be CSU’s first NCAA appearance in 32 years. Brad Stuver posted two shutouts in the league tourna-ment to earn tourney MVP honors and was joined on the all-tournament team by Cam Eisses, Aaron Adkins, Cazz Warren and Admir Suljevic. Warren and Adkins scored in the champi-onship game, while Suljevic scored in the semifinals.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING & DIVING CSU returns to action this weekend when the Vikings host the inaugural Magnus Cup from Friday through Sunday (Nov. 16-18). The Vikings defeated St. Bonaventure, 143-99, on Saturday to move to 4-2 this year. Senior Alice Sommerville won the 50-yard freestyle (24.48), and 200 breaststroke (2:24.63), while freshman Jodi Turk earned victories in both the 1,000 freestyle (10:29.46) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.34).
