MEN’S TENNIS Coming off its first dual match victory of the season, Cleveland State will take to the road once again this week and begin a three-match roadswing. CSU’s lone match of the week will take place on Friday (Feb. 1) at IPFW at 10:00 a.m. Last time out, CSU earned a 4-3 victory over Binghamton, marking the Vikings’ first win of the 2013 spring season. The Vikings earned the doubles point for the first time this year with victories at No. 1 (Ali Shabib/Niklas Jonsson) and No. 2 (Nolan Marks/Joe Van-Meter) doubles, while Jorg van der Vloet (No. 1), Matt Kuelker (No. 2) and Jonsson (No. 6) picked up singles victories for the Vikings.

MEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings return to action on Saturday (Feb. 2) when CSU travels to UIC for an 8:00 p.m. EST contest in its lone game of the week. CSUis10-12overallandfinishedthefirstroundof Horizon League play at 2-6 following losses to Loyola (67-55) and at Youngstown State (73-59) last week. Freshman Bryn Forbes averaged 20.5 points in the two games, scoring a career-high 22 points against Loyola and adding 19 at YSU.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL The Vikings will hit the road this week, playing at Detroit on Thursday (Jan. 31) at 7:00 p.m., and Valparaiso at 2:35 p.m. EST on Saturday (Feb. 2). Cleveland State faced Youngstown State in its lone contest last week, falling to the Penguins, 72-63. Entering the week the Vikings standat10-8overallthisyearand2-3inleagueplay–rankingfifthinthe league standings. Senior Shalonda Winton continues to shine, ranking second in the league in scoring (21.6 ppg), rebounding (10.8 rpg), assists (4.5 apg) and blocked shots (1.2 bpg).

WOMEN’S TENNIS After taking a week off from competition, the Vi-kings will get back to the courts this week, traveling to Toledo and Michigan State. CSU will open the weekend with a 6:00 p.m. con-test at Toledo on Friday (Feb. 1) and will then travel to Michigan State for a 10:00 a.m. match on Saturday (Feb. 2). The Vikings opened their 2013 spring season two weeks ago, dropping a pair of contests to No. 74 Har-vard and Boston University.

WRESTLING The Vikings return home to host Bloomsburg at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 2) in Woodling Gym. CSU is looking to bounce back after a 37-3 loss to 15th-ranked Edinboro last Saturday. Junior Ben Will-eford picked up a 5-2 decision win at 125 pounds for CSU’s win. Despitethefinalmargin,multiplematch-upswereclose, as five of the nine CSU defeats were by fivepoints or less, led by heavyweight Riley Shaw falling in an overtime battle 7-5 to 20th-ranked Ernest Jones.

MEN’S SWIMMING CSU concludes the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 2) when the Vikings travel to UIC at 2:00 p.m. The Vikings, who have posted a 12-3-1 record this season, were out of action last week, and have not competed since a 193-100 Senior Day win over Wright State on Jan. 19 behind strong efforts from the senior class. Mark deSwardt won the 500 and 1,000 free-style, while Justin Hill won the 50 freestyle and Berry Thompson claimed the 1,000 free.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING CSU concludes the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 2) when the Vikings travel to UIC at 2:00 p.m. The Vikings slipped to 10-4 this season, dropping a close 156-144 decision at Akron last Saturday (Jan. 26). Freshman Jodi Turk picked up two wins, includ-ing a school-record time of 17:16.68 to claim the 1,650 freestyle. Turk also won the 500 free. Alice Sommerville won three events, taking the 100and200breastandthe100fly.

FENCING The fencing teams will be back in competition this coming weekend when they head to Evanston, Illinois. The men (14-2) went 6-0 over the weekend, clinchingawinningseasonforthefirsttimeunderheadcoach Andy Tulleners. Tom Bienvenu (sabre), Phelan Spence (foil), and Salih Yasun (epee) all went 18-0. Christine Bocci led the way for CSU on the wom-en’s side with 13 wins, while Maureen Forinash (10 wins), Sudeshna Chakraborty (9 wins), and Amanda Brown (8 wins) all had strong showings.

laSt WeekForbes averaged 20.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in CSU’s two games last week, shooting 54-percent (14-26) from the field and 60-percent (6-10) from three-point. He scored a career-high 22 points with five rebounds against Loyola and came back with 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists at Youngstown State. Forbes has scored in double-digits in 13 straight games and 14 of the last 15 contests.
