Project Abstract

This project enhances the workflow system that is currently in place at Molded Plastic

Ventures (MPV) and also provides a consolidated electronic documentation and

records keeping system for the development of tools.

Project Objectives

• Establish a link between electronic documents and the tooling processes.

• Compile a database of tools accompanied by the ability to search and report records.

• Create a program to interact with the database and generate process forms necessary for tool development.

• Allow history and traceability of documentation for each tool that is built.

Software Components

• Microsoft Access 2003– Tool Database

• Contain detailed record for each trial tool that is in design or being built.

• Allows queries to be performed to locate specific items.

• Display reports of Tool Inventory as well as Vendors

• Microsoft Excel 2003– Electronic Process

Forms• All process forms are in

Excel worksheets, allowing for simple fill out by software or user.

• Ten different process forms exist in Excel format, and will be fed tool data by this system.

Software Components

• Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)– Software Application

• Establishes a link between Access tool database and process forms that must be generated to build the tool.

• Once link is established, data flows from Tool Record in Access to all ten Process Documents
