Main Events

Basilio sees Simoun placing the lamp at the center of the house

Basilio tries to convince Isagani to stay away from the house because there will be an explosion in any minute

In a act of love and loyalty to Paulita, he boldly rushes to house, and throw the lamp into the river.

El Filibusterismo Chapter 36: Ben Zayb’s Predicament

Main Events

From Capitan Tiago’s house, Ben Zayb run home to write the shocking events.

Meanwhile, the governor-general prohibited anyone from talking about it.

Instead, a news circulates that a band of thieves have attacked the friar country house, and the signal was given by Simoun.

Main Events

The Orenda family and Isagani were discussing about the events of the previous night.

Chichoy said that Simoun was the mastermind behind the plot who plan to kill all the people in the wedding by lighting the lamp.

Main Events

A Group of Prisoners are being escorted by the soldiers when they are ambushed

Carolino, one of the civil guard, and son of Cabesang Tales, bravely fights to defeat the bandits

Upon approaching the dead, he realizes that he had kill his own grandfather

El Filibusterismo Chapter 39: The Last Chapter

Main Events

Simoun was wounded and exhausted goes to Padre Florentino’s house to hide from civil guards that are out to arrest him.

After Simoun drank the poison, he revealed his true identity

His unsuccessful attempt to corrupt the government to in order to start revolution that would free the country.

Reflection

Freedom cannot be won by violence and the shedding of innocent blood but by proper education, hard work and long- suffering
