Deuteronomy 2-3, Remember History

• Moses continues recounting the journey thus far.• The book of Deuteronomy uses the word “remember” more

times than any other book of the Bible except the Psalms (it has 150 chapters).

• Here’s a few; “Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb…remember that you were a slave…what God did to Pharaoh…God has led you…remember the LORD…how you provoked the LORD…you were a slave…God redeemed you…remember Egypt...you were a slave…God did to Miriam…what Amalek did…Remember the days of old…

Deuteronomy 2:5, 9, 19, Do Not Provoke Them

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:5 do not provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a footstep because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:9 "Then the LORD said to me, 'Do not harass Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:19 'When you come opposite the sons of Ammon, do not harass them nor provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the sons of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.’

• Don't go pick fights based on your own greed, lust, or desire.

Do Not Provoke Them

Deuteronomy 2:5, 9, 19, 24God Is Not An “Indian Giver”

• Deut. 2:5…I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.• 2:9 …because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot…• 2:19…because I have given it to the sons of Lot…• God is a covenant keeper. His Word stands forever. • NAU Genesis 12:7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your

descendants I will give this land…”, Genesis 13:15 for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever…

• Deuteronomy 2:24…I have given…his land into your hand…• Exodus 32:13, Joshua 14:9, 1 Chronicles 28:8, 2 Chronicles 20:7, Ezra 9:12, Psalm 37:29, Isaiah

60:21, Jeremiah 7:7, 25:5, Ezekiel 37:25, Acts 13:19, Romans 9:4• wikipedia=, “..As observed and documented by Lewis and Clark in their journal, trading with Native Americans had a very unusual

aspect - any trade, once consummated, was considered a fair trade. If on one day, they traded beads for a dog from a tribe, then days later, the trade could be reversed - upon surrendering the beads, the tribe expected the dog back…”

Deuteronomy 2:5, Footsteps, Footprints

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:5 do not provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a footstep because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession.

• NAU Psalm 89:51 With which Your enemies have reproached, O LORD, With which they have reproached the footsteps of Your anointed. NAU

Psalm 77:19 Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known.

• NAU Hosea 6:8 Gilead is a city of wrongdoers, Tracked with bloody footprints.

• Andrew Bonar has said, “It is easy to follow a person’s footprints if we walk close behind him, but if we walk some distance back, we might fail to see them as clearly. Similarly, if we follow close after the Lord, we would easily see the footsteps along the way, but if we try to follow afar off, we would find it difficult to know the path of His will.”

Deuteronomy 2:10, Giants In The Land

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:10 (The Emim lived there formerly, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.1128 Emim

Bibleworks, 1128.01 A giant war-like race, which occupied the region E. of the Dead Sea, in which the Moabites succeeded them (Gen. 14:5; Deut. 2:10). Perhaps related to "Amu" the Egyptian word in the hieroglyphics for nomadic Shemites. The Hebrew means "terrible ones." The Rephaim were on the N.E. of Jordan, the Zuzim next, then the Emim, then the Horim on the S.E.; all gigantic.

Deuteronomy 2:10, Tall

• Deut. 2:10 (The Emim lived there formerly, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.

• Why it's good to be tall!

Deuteronomy 2:10, Giants In The Land

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:10 (The Emim lived there formerly, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.

• NAU Numbers 13:33 "There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

• The green slides following are from our study in Genesis chapter 6. Concerning the sons of God and the daughters of men.

Jewish and Patristic Fathers The Jewish Fathers, Early Church Fathers and Philo

of Alexandria interpreted the expression “sons of God” in Genesis 6:2, as "angels."

“The Early Church Fathers believed the same way. Men like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Athenagoras, Tertullian, Lactantius, Eusebius, Ambrose...all adopted this interpretation. In the words of the Ante-Nicene Fathers, the angels fell "into impure love of virgins, and were subjugated by the flesh...Of those lovers of virgins therefore, were begotten those who are called giants.” …We cannot deny the Jewish Fathers knowledge of their own terminology! They invariably translated "sons of God" as "angels." ” www.redicecreations.com

Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim

NAU Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth…

NET ESV CSB NAS NAU Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim... NKJ KJV Genesis 6:4 There were giants... YLT Genesis 6:4 The fallen ones were in the

The Nephilim (Gigantes) in LXX Deut 3:11 (Only Og

Nephilim in Hebrew, Root naphal OT:5303, nephiyl (nef-eel'); or nephil (nef-eel');

from OT:5307; properly, a feller, i.e. a bully or tyrant:, KJV - giant.

OT:5307, naphal (naw-fal'); a primitive root; to fall, in a great variety of applications (intransitive or causative, literal or figurative):

KJV - …(cause to, let, make, ready to) fall (away, down, -en, -ing), fell (-ing), fugitive, have [inheritance], inferior, be judged…

The Nephilim (Gigantes) in LXX “When the Greek Septuagint was made,

"Nephilim" was translated as "gegenes." This word suggests "giants" but actually it has little reference to size or strength. "Gegenes" means "earth born." The same term was used to describe the mythical "Titans" -- being partly of celestial and partly of terrestrial origin... In some of the manuscripts it is left as "sons of God," but in the others-- including the Alexandrian text--it is rendered by the word "angelos." This text was in existence in the time of Christ, but there is no indication that He ever corrected or queried it. Can we not assume from His silence that He agreed with the translation!” www.redicecreations.com

And Also Afterward Gen 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in

those days — and also afterward —

Num 13:27-33 Num 13:27-33 They gave Moses this account: "We

went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there. ….

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are." 32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, "The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."

And Also Afterward The sons of God could have sinned again and

that is why God wiped out all the Canaanites. Genesis 9:24 When Noah awoke from his

wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him. 25 So he said, "Cursed be Canaan…

Or, possibly, Noah’s daughter-in-laws carried a genetic defect and were not “perfect in their generations.”

I’m not so sure about the girls. It doesn’t say, “Noah and his daughter-in-laws were perfect in their generations.”

Deuteronomy 2:18, “today”• NAS Deuteronomy 8:1 "All the commandments that I am

commanding you today you shall be careful to do… (Deuteronomy 8:1, 11, 19, 9:1, 3)

• Most commentaries say that Deuteronomy consists of three or more sermons that Moses gave. Only a few say that it was three points of one sermon delivered at one time.

• Deuteronomy uses the word “today” more than any other book of the Bible. Four times more than any other book of the Bible (58 NAU). More than 1/4 of all the uses of the word are in Deuteronomy. It sure seems to me that Moses would have us understand that he delivered the entire sermon in one day. The day they would “cross over.”

• Deuteronomy uses the phrase “this day” another 15 times.• NAU Deuteronomy 2:18 'Today you shall cross over Ar, the border of

Moab. Samsung most first of the month and got paid.

• Who was responsible for cleansing the land of every man, woman, and child?

• NAU Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Deuteronomy 2:21, The Lord Destroyed Them All

• NAU Deuteronomy 2:21 a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim, but the LORD destroyed them before them. And they dispossessed them and settled in their place,

• God in His patience, and long-suffering, has allowed these people to continue in their extreme sin, and iniquity, for 400 years after he gave Abram the land;

• KJV Genesis 15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

ANCIENT MODERN STEELTODAY'S CREATION MOMENT, Iron Steel

• The ages of human history are frequently divided into periods named after rocks and minerals. There was the Stone Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. This evolutionary way of describing human history is based on the materials people used to make weapons and tools. On the other hand, the Bible describes man as developing his knowledge of metalworking within a few generations of his existence.

• The Presidential Palace in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Researchers in 2000 were studying an ancient steel factory in Turkmenistan. The 1,000 year old steel factory produced the legendary Damascus steel, which was the strongest and most durable steel produced in ancient times. When the factory was operating, steel was heated to temperatures up to 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit. Researchers examined the pottery shards that …

• are the remains of the crucible. They found traces of the steel they once held on the shards that told an amazing story. Some of the shards had traces of low carbon steel, while others had traces of high carbon steel. They concluded that the ancient steel makers were mixing the two together in a process called co fusion. The result was a strong, durable steel. What is amazing is that it was previously thought that co fusion was discovered in the 20th century!

• While our knowledge may be growing today, we need to avoid false pride. The Bible teaches that the highest knowledge is the knowledge of God. His protection is better than any provided by the hardest steel.

Deuteronomy 3:18, Armed Sons Of Israel

• NAU Deuteronomy 3:18 "Then I commanded you at that time, saying, 'The LORD your God has given you this land to possess it; all you valiant men shall cross over armed before your brothers, the sons of Israel.

• Shabbat Inspiration, Why does God command the Children of Israel in war; wouldn't it have been easier for God to simply give them the Land in peace? We reveal our deepest values in what we are willing to give our lives for. On Monday, Israel's Memorial Day, the nation remembers its fallen soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of Zion.

Deuteronomy 3:25, Let Me See The Land

• NAU Deuteronomy 3:25 'Let me, I pray, cross over and see the fair land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon.’

• NAU Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;

• NAU 2 Kings 6:17 Then Elisha prayed and said, "O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see." And the LORD opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

• 2 Kings 6:18-21, Numbers 22:31, John 9:26, 10:21, Acts 9:8-18, Genesis 21:19

• Jerusalem Inspiration, Moses’ genuine love for the Land of Israel is a lesson for all time. Though already informed that he would not enter the Promised Land, Moses sets his heart to pray for God to change His mind. His plea to "see the good Land" highlights his sincere motivation. Moses did not ask to lead the people into the Land of Israel; he was content with passing the reigns to Joshua for that. Moses simply wanted to see the Land, to breathe its air, and to experience its goodness.

• There was a women in a local church that had a son that was quite unruly. They had a visiting missionary come and he was trying to stir up interest to get people to go to a foreign country to preach the gospel. The missionary noticed that the young boy was quite a pistol. At the end of the service a woman dragging a little boy behind her, told the missionary, “I just feel like God is calling me to be a missionary.” “He is, indeed”

• and pointing to the little boy, “And there’s the little heathen he wants you to preach to.”

ooparts, TODAY'S CREATION MOMENTTHE SOUTH-POINTING CARRIAGE

• “Numerous Chinese legends refer to a mysterious carriage on which a mechanical rider rode. Its arm was outstretched and continuously pointed south no matter which way the carriage turned. How did it accomplish such a feat? If you're guessing that magnets had something to do with it, you'd be wrong. Actually, the south-pointing chariot was invented about 800 years before the first navigational use of a magnetic compass.

• South-pointing chariot exhibit in the Science Museum, LondonIn the 1960s, Dr. Joseph Needham discovered that the carriage dated back to the third century AD. He also learned that the device did not use magnets. The carriage was actually a highly sophisticated automaton that has since been described as the world's "first cybernetic machine."

• So how did the figure know how to keep pointing south? It used a complex grouping of gears similar to the differential gears found in modern cars. This system of interconnected gears allows the wheels of a car turning a corner to move at different speeds, with the "outer" wheel traveling farther than the other. The arm of the figure on the carriage was aimed southward by hand at the start of a journey. After that, whenever the carriage turned, the mechanism automatically rotated the arm to keep it pointed to the south.

• Over the years, we have told you about many such ancient devices, revealing that ancient man was much more intelligent than modern man gives them credit for. This should come as no surprise to those of us who believe the Bible.”
