A reading From theBook of Exodus (3:1-6)

Page 13: Opening prayer lathe

Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led

his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to

Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord

appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked,

and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed.

Page 14: Opening prayer lathe

Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great

sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.” When the Lord saw that he had turned aside

to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And

he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Come no closer!

Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which

you are standing is holy ground.”

Page 15: Opening prayer lathe

He said further, “I am the God of your father, the

God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of

Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to

look at God.

Point of Reflection:

When an administrator, a staff, a school nurse, a guidance counselor, a professor or a teacher stands before a co-teacher, a staff, a student or a parent or a co-worker, God is also present and the ground that he or she is standing is Holy Ground.

Page 17: Opening prayer lathe

God called to Moses out of the bush: "Moses, Moses!" And he

said, "Here I am." "Come no closer," God said. "Remove the sandals from your feet, for the

place on which you are standing is holy ground."

We reverently touch and are touched by the hearts of the people around us, the dwelling place of the living God.

This is spirituality of our profession this is the ground of the practice of our nurturing and teaching profession, this is holy ground!

Page 23: Opening prayer lathe

So the holy ground we are called to enter…. maybe

difficult, challenging, we may face suffering, fear,

communication barriers, prejudices, impossible

working conditions and constant obstacles. Though at times we feel inadequate and defeated… God is with us

and offering us His peace.

Page 24: Opening prayer lathe

This is the gift and the grace of our Lasallian vocation “of standing in holy ground”. This

is the blessing, the precious knowledge

that, however great or small our task may be, God is with us and will

give us His peace.

Prayer of a Lasallian

Father in heaven, God of love, all I have and am is yours.

Grant that I may become a living sign of your compassion in this world.

Page 27: Opening prayer lathe

Grant me the faith to live my life, always in

the awareness of your loving presence.

Grant me zeal to serve without thought

of reward, those to whom you send me.

Page 28: Opening prayer lathe

Grant me charity to bear the burdens of my brothers and sisters.

Teach me to seek your Son’s face, in the last, the lost, and the least.

Page 29: Opening prayer lathe

In whatever I undertake, may I seek above all

things, to procure your glory, as far as I able, and as you will require of me.

Strengthen me by your Holy Spirit, to follow Jesus by living the commitment I

make this day. Amen .
