1) Quality Planninga) Identify the customers

Use: Pareto Diagram-Vilfredo Pareto-”vital few” and “useful many”

b) Determine the customers’ needs.

REAL NEEDS VS STATED NEEDS

i) Being a user of the product or service

ii) Communicating with customers through product or service satisfaction and dissatisfaction information and ;

iii) Simulation in the laboratory

c) Develop a product whose features align with the customers’ needs.

i) Quality function deployment ( QFD)

• Planning tool used to fulfill customers satisfaction

ii) Taguchi's quality engineering (TQE)

• An approach to engineering that emphasizes the roles of research and development, product design and product development in reducing the occurrence of defects and failures in products.

iii) Concurrent engineering (CE)

• also known as simultaneous engineering, is a method of designing and developing products, in which the different stages run simultaneously, rather than consecutively
