    A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: (2 sentences)This social studies lesson is designed for 1st grade students to learn about how

    people earn money. They will use magazines to help them locate people with jobs.

    The is Day 1 of 3 in careers.

    B. Target Population: (3 bullet points)

    Grade Level: 1st grade

    Skill Level: students at all learning levels

    Grouping: whole group, individual, whole group

    C. Materials: (bullet points)

    paper, clothes hangers

    pencils, string

    construction paper, scissors

    markers, glue, and magazines

    E. Procedure: (numbered steps)1. Children will begin lesson by brainstorming a list of jobs men and women

    can both do.

    2. Teacher will write the list on chart paper.

    3. Using the list generated by class, have students draw or in a magazine

    find and cut out pictures of people in careers in which both men and women

    work.

    4. Glue the picture on a piece of construction paper and print the name of

    the career under the picture.

    5. Have students design a mobile using a clothes hanger and the pictures

    they cut out.

    6. Students can attach pictures of a variety of tools used by workers.

    7. Have the students explain their mobiles to the rest of the group and

    hang them around the room.

    8. Have students discuss how both males and females can perform

    the same jobs.

    9. Closure: Discuss with the children this is how people earn money

    What will you use to measure student understanding?

    I would measure understanding by using their mobile as a guide to what theyknow.

    Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from thelesson.

    I would know that the student understood the concept by if the mobile ismatching what career is put down.

    The easiest part of the lesson for me to teach would be listing the careers or

    jobs for men and women.

    2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach?

    The most challenging part would be getting the mobiles right and the

    students understanding what we are doing.

    3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson?

    I would follow up this lesson by seeing after we went through the magazines

    if there were more jobs the students could name.

    4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts?

    The students that don't grasp the subject I will take small group and help

    them find a career or job to use.

    5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?

    The part that I would change in the lesson would be not to rush into the

    brainstorming activity.

    6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult

    part?

    The most difficult part of this lesson was adapting to what I needed to follow

    the standard.
