Charge Conference - Dayspring’s annual Charge Conference will be held on Monday, Nov. 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. All Dayspring members are invited to attend.

Thank You to all who participated in the Blood Drive on Sunday, Oct. 7 th. Thanks to you, 42 units are available for those needing help. Mark your calendars for the Spring Blood Drive on Sunday, March 3rd.

Please help our Sprouts in their 1st ever Car Wash on Saturday, Nov. 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the NW corner of Elliot and Rural at the Dairy Queen. The Sprouts are trying to raise funds for their mission project of Christmas bags going to Sidewalk Sunday School. All donations accepted!

Coffee Hour - Please sign up to host coffee hour at either the 9:00 or 10:30 service. Detailed instructions are provided as well as training for first timers. Contact Jean Peters at 602-252-8146 or [email protected].

Annual Fall Food Drive - The Fall Food Drive will be held next Sunday, Nov. 18th. Empty grocery bags will be distributed this morning (in case you didn’t get one last week). We will have a refrigerated truck available for TURKEYS! Please return your “full” bags and frozen TURKEYS next Sunday, Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 18th, when the food will be blessed following each service. Donations will provide help to the United Food Bank in Mesa.

Don’t Miss Dayspring Youth Ministries PIE SALE! We are selling four kinds of pie, each just $10: Pumpkin, Apple, Pecan and Derby (made with walnuts and chocolate chips). We’re also selling Lemon Squares and Pumpkin Bread for $8. Place your order with us on the patio TODAY! Youths will bake all the goodies fresh for you, with the help of some of our church’s finest bakers. You can pick up your desserts just in time for Thanksgiving - after worship service on Sunday, Nov. 18 th. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the youths’ summer mission projects. Thank you!

Play Group - Our Play Group will meet Wednesday, Nov. 14th, at 9:30 a.m. at Desert Breeze Park. If you are interested in being part of this group, please contact Nancy Hartgrove at [email protected].

The Explorer’s Class on poverty continues today. This 4-week study explores the following questions: What does the Bible say about the poor? How do we interact with the poor? How do our life experiences influence the way we see this problem? What are the causes and what are the solutions? This series is led by Nancy Jamison-Dawe and Bonny Sloane. All adults are welcome. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. Coffee is served.

The Adult Contemporary Issues Class is studying and discussing “Mythology, Religion and the Judeo-Christian Tradition.” We are exploring mythology as “literature of the Spirit, a study of the inner life” and examining the function of Judeo-Christian symbols as keys to our spiritual understanding. Class meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Adult Room.

United Methodist Women meet on Thursday, Nov. 15th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Adult Room. District Officer Jeannine Reynolds will present the program “Human Trafficking - Justice Needed.” Human trafficking , aka modern-day slavery, is our 2012 social action issue priority. All women are invited to join us for refreshments, fellowship, and opportunities for education and service.

Connections - The Connections meeting which was scheduled to meet today at 2:00 p.m., has been rescheduled for next Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2:00 p.m., in the Cochise Lounge at Friendship Village, 2645 E. Southern Ave., Tempe. Nan Lawson and Chuck Smith have offered to carpool with their cars, leaving the Church at 1:45 p.m. and returning at approximately 4:00 p.m. Mary Laner is making arrangements at Friendship Village. Singles at Dayspring - Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. Nov. 11 - Elephant Bar - 3405 W. Chandler Blvd., in front of Chandler Fashion Center.

“Christmas Is Not Your Birthday” - Rev. Marvin Arnpriester will lead a study of this book by Mike Slaughter during Advent. The 4-week study begins on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 112. We will be inspired to approach this Christmas differently by focusing on experiencing the peace of knowing God’s presence, the joy of giving sacrificially, and the love of a Savior who gave everything for us. UMOM Quilters will be busy working on Christmas items for the Domestic Violence shelter this Wednesday, November 14th, in the Adult Room, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. As always, all are welcome.
