Pew UpholsteringWe continue the fund-raising effort to allow us to re-upholster the pews. We’ll announce our progress weekly toward our goal of raising $40,000. Thank you all for your generous gifts!

Sanctuary Carpet and Pew Re-Upholstery Project - Thanks to the generous donations from the people of Dayspring, we are nearing our goal to proceed with this project. We are evaluating bids and working with folks who have interior design experience to make the best possible decision on color, style and durability, knowing that the product we choose will serve us for the next 20+ years. Scheduling the installation is also an issue, particularly as we approach the holiday season. Thank you for your support and patience as we move forward. Your Board of Trustees.

Fall Ministry FairMark your calendar for next Sunday, November 11, and plan to attend this All-Church Event. It will be open in the morning from 10:00 a.m. to Noon in Fellowship Hall. We hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about all the ministries at Dayspring!

***Annual Fall Food Drive - The Fall Food Drive will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18th. Empty grocery bags will be distributed on Nov. 4th and 11th. We will have a refrigerated truck available for TURKEYS! Please return your “full” bags and frozen TURKEYS on Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 18th, when the food will be blessed following each service. Donations will provide help to the United Food Bank in Mesa.

Coffee Hour Help - Please sign up on the patio this morning to host coffee hour at either the 9:00 or 10:30 service. Detailed instructions are provided as well as training for first timers. Please contact Jean Peters at (602) 252-8146 or [email protected]’s Class - A new series on Poverty begins today in the Explorer’s Class. This 4-week study will explore the following questions:

What does the Bible say about the poor? How do we interact with the poor? Do we know who they are and the causes of poverty? And what, if anything, can we do to alleviate poverty? This class will be led by Bonnie Sloane and Nancy Jamison-Dawe. 9:00 a.m. in the Adult Room. All are welcome.

The Adult Contemporary Issues Class is studying and discussing “Mythology, Religion and the Judeo-Christian Tradition.” We are exploring mythology as “literature of the Spirit, a study of the inner life” and examining the function of Judeo-Christian symbols as keys to our spiritual understanding. Class meets at 10:30 a.m. in the Adult Room.

The Connie Reading Circle meets on Thursday, Nov. 8th, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Pat Brandt, (480) 917-0952. Pearline Roberson will review A Monk in the Inner City: The ABC’s of a Spiritual Journey by Mary Lou Kowanacki, from the UMW Reading Program Spiritual Growth category.

The Mary Martha Circle meets Thursday, Nov. 8th, at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Marilyn Miller, (480) 893-8617. Cathy Smoot will present the lesson. Visitors and new members welcome.

Singles at Dayspring - Singles, Etc. Lunches - Each Sunday after the second service, those who want to go out for lunch as a group meet at the restaurant listed below. If you attend first service, please join us! We gather around noon under the name “Dayspring”. Nov. 4 - Crackers and Co. - 1285 W. Elliot Rd., between Priest and Hardy, on the south side.

Come to 50 Plus on Friday, Nov. 16th, at 12:00 noon in the Shalimar Country Club Restaurant, 2032 E. Golf Ave., Tempe. Cindy Shanks, author, will speak about her children’s book, “The Sheep Trail” (moving sheep between our valley and the White Mountains). Dayspring Golf Outing - The Annual Dayspring Golf Outing sponsored by UMM will be Saturday, Nov. 10th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Ahwatukee Country Club (48th St. and Warner).
