Our program for children

aged 4-12 years of age

gathers at our 9:00 AM mass

each week. Our focus is to

incorporate a variety of

experiences that appeal to a

young child’s natural sense of wonder about God. This Fall — we welcome your children to

experience the Celebration of God’s Word with

us—especially if they are in our sacramental

preparation programs!

Mass for the Bereaved & The Book of Life On November 2nd, we traditionally celebrate All Souls Day - a way of remembering and celebrating the lives of all those who have died.

This year, our celebration will be held at the

11:00 am mass on Sunday, October 28. Everyone is welcome to attend this mass and we extend a special invitation to those who have lost a loved one in the last year. Each year at this time we also update “The Book of Life,” our parish book that records the names of our deceased loved ones. The names of all those who have died from our parish during the past year (01 November 2017—25 October 2018) are recorded on the front page. For anyone who would like to update their page or add a page for their deceased loved ones, please contact the parish office for direction. All through November, the books will be open on display in the sanctuary. Each Sunday, one of the intentions in the General Intercessions will be for all the faithful departed, especially those whose names are written in these books. The Mass on Sundays will be celebrated for all the deceased recorded in the Book of Life. If you have lost a loved one in the last year call the office or droop us a note through the collection with the name of the deceased and your name and telephone number. All names must be received by Thursday, October 25.

Women’s Leadership Program

We are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2019 cohort of our Leadership Program, scheduled to begin in May 2019 at the Providence School of Transformative Leadership and Spirituality, Saint Paul University, Ottawa. The program is open to all Canadian Catholic women, from all walks of life who have a genuine interest in making a difference in their communities and places of work. A candidate must be a Catholic woman, at least 21 years of age, demonstrate oral and written English language competencies, have a genuine desire to cultivate her gifts of leadership, and have made a previous contribution to her community in some capacity. The Program is a thirteen-month Certificate program with an ongoing mentorship once the course work is completed. Throughout the Program, participants will be guided by professional facilitators from Saint Paul University. The Program is specifically designed to integrate faith and life, personal and professional leadership development. Spirituality and a Catholic faith perspective are the foundation of all activities; prayer and reflective practice are core elements integrated throughout the program. The Program will have an introductory get-to-know-you online module; an initial five-day face-to-face residency component; a 10-month online component, consisting of videos, readings, personal reflections and discussion forums; and a final four-day face-to-face residency component. Details of the content of the different components can be found on the website www.cwlfcanada.ca. If you are or know of a Catholic woman who wishes to be a transformational and influential leader, we invite you to complete the application, which can be found at www.cwlfcanada.ca.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has released an on-line Statement on the Right to Safe Drinking Water by the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace. The statement is available as an online resource on our website procathedral.ca under LATEST NEWS The statement draws particular attention to the privatization of water for corporate profit and the ongoing issue of unsafe drinking water on some reserves in Canada where Indigenous Peoples are living. Earlier this month, Pope Francis focused on water in his Message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation on September 1. The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed 2018-2028 as the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development.
