Defiance Team,

In manufacturing, we often talk about focusing on the things in our control and executing flawlessly. Since op-erations restarted, your team has demonstrated strong focus and I appreciate your individual efforts.

You restarted operations with special attention paid to safety and addressing the invisible hand. You followed your standardized work practices and executed other plans that allowed you to start up quickly and deliver product to your customers on time.

Thank you for your commitment to safety, and your commitment to built in quality – this is how we think customer.

November Nutrition Tips Before the Holidays• At the store, plan ahead by buying a variety of nutrient-rich foods for meals and snacks throughout

the week. • Make a list and do your best to stick to it when shopping.• Avoid going to the store hungry, or perusing the junk food isles.• Choose items with lower amounts of salt and sugar in them.

• Cook your own meals for home and pack a lunch and snacks for work. This will help reduce impulse decisions to eat fast food or other less healthy choices.

• On a long commute or shopping trip, PLAN by packing some fresh fruit, cut-up vegetables, string cheese sticks, or a handful of unsalted nuts to help you avoid impulsive, less healthful snack choices.

• In a restaurant, opt for steamed, grilled, or broiled dishes instead of those that are fried or sautéed.

• Be flexible. Balance what you do and eat over several days rather than worrying about 1 meal at a time.

• Enjoy all foods! Just keep portion control in mind and don’t overdo it.

• Be active! This doesn’t always mean going to the gym or running 3 miles every day. Take the dog for a walk, take a dance class, anything that you enjoy that gets you moving!

The 2019-2020 seasonal flu vaccine (Afluria Quad-rivalent – manufactured by Seqirus) will be avail-able for administration to General Motors em-

ployees at the GM Defiance Health Center. The Afluria Quadrivalent differs from past years in which the flu vaccine was trivalent (3-component vaccine). The 2019 Afluria Quadrivalent seasonal flu vaccine is a quadri-valent vaccine (4-component vaccine). Each vaccine compo-nent was selected to protect against the main groups of in-fluenza viruses currently circulating in humans:• Influenza A / Brisbane• Influenza A / Kansas• Influenza B / Maryland• Influenza B / Phuket The influenza vaccine is an “inactivated” vaccine – that is – there is no live virus in the vaccine. Therefore, the vaccine cannot cause influenza. Unlike the multi-dose vials, the pre-filled syringes that GM Health Services ordered this year, contains no preservatives. The Medical Department will administer the flu vaccine to employees on a drop-in basis.

THE LAST OF A GENERATION

Thursday, November 18, the Bowling Green Assembly team built the final C7 Corvette – a black Corvette Z06 model that is the last of the front-engine Corvettes. Re-markably, this vehicle was sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction this past June for $2.7 million dollars! All pro-ceeds went to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, who builds mortgage-free, accessible smart homes for catastrophically injured members of our nation’s Armed Forces.

WHERE DO SPARE PARTS COME FROM?

We make parts, build vehicle systems and assemble cars, trucks and SUVs so they can be sold at our deal-ers. But, what happens next? How do we extend our relationship with customers so they keep coming back? Customer Care and Aftersales is our way of providing for customer vehicles from the moment they leave the lot. CCA uses warehouses and distribution centers all across the US and the world to distribute parts from spark plugs to large vehicle parts that need to be re-placed directly to dealers to get our customers back on the road. CCA also includes ACDelco, who provides parts to GM dealers, ACDelco distributors and parts retailers, providing the opportunity to reach indepen-dent shops and DIYers. Vehicle accessories for each brand allow our custom-ers to customize their vehicle’s appearance, perfor-mance and functionality with parts backed by GM. From routine service to repairs, and helping to make each vehicle unique, CCA is an important service for our customers and a driver for company’s success.
