PRESCHOOL/EARLY LEARNINGPreschool is an exciting time as children embark on new adventures in theworld of learning. At the Y, we regard each child as a unique individual whoneeds to be understood, guided, encouraged and appreciated. Our programsprovide activities where children learn, explore, build a positive self-imageand develop strong social and emotional relationships. Y programs encour-age children to explore their creativity through multi-sensory experiencesand create a language-rich environment to promote and foster a love ofreading. Children are exposed to art, music, math and science as they de-velop expressive and receptive language and gross motor skills.

Hero Training Academy Through stories, songs, art projects, games andon-site visitors, your child will learn how to harness the abilities of heroesand heroines. The children will receive training while building character aswe explore real and fictional heroes. Each week, participants will master anew skill. The class is held in our youth development center. Join the nextgeneration of heroes.

You & Me Playtime Meet new friends while exploring a variety ofequipment. Bring your child and come crawl, slide, climb, ride and socialize.This is a semi-structured class held in our Adventure Center.

Little Learners A preschool program that works on age-appropriateareas of learning through play, sensory, block, math, literacy, dramaticplay and other theme-related activities. Swim lessons held on Mondaysand gym on Wednesdays. Child must be potty-trained.

Toddler Time (Tues/Thurs) This class is an introduction to school foryour little one with enrichment activities in sensory, math, literacy, art,block play and dramatic play.

LEARN TO SWIM AT THE Y.

Since 1885, the YMCA has been a pioneer in swimming education. Literallymillions of people have learned to swim through the Y's perfected program.In Y swim lessons, participants learn and practice new swimming skills andfeel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they canenjoy the rest of their lives.

PARENT/CHILD & YOUTH SWIM LESSONSParent/Child Swim Lessons (Ages 6 months to 3 years)

Our parent/child swim lessons promote water enrichment andaquatic-readiness activities for children and their parents or othertrusted adults. In this program, the developmental experiences of eachchild are used to build the child's self-confidence in and out of the water.Parents learn from the instructor's example how to guide their childrenthrough positive reinforcement and appropriate praise.

There are four levels based on developmental abilities:

• Shrimp (6-8 months) Child can control their head and sit with supportfrom the hands.

• Kipper (9-12 months) Child can sit without hand support and stand withsupport from the hands.

• Inia (13-18 months) Child can stand without support and walk with orwithout support or aid.

• Perch (19-36 months) Child can run and jump.

• Pike with Parent is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be ableto listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn thebasic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taughtkicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Youth Swim Lessons (Ages 3-15)

These programs offer children their first experience in the water withouta parent. Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocksof swimming, including water propulsion, floating, body awareness andindependence. They are also taught some general aquatic safety andpool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of variousinstructional flotation devices.

There are four levels based on developmental abilities:

• Pike (Beginner)

• Eel (Intermediate)

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMSDeveloping character and friendships in a safe andnurturing environment.

The YMCA's Kindergarten and after school programs are more thanjust child care. They're enrichment programs designed to meet thedevelopmental needs of children with an emphasis on experientiallearning, social and emotional development and the promotionof healthy living, all while providing a fun, safe and nurturingenvironment for children. In our programs, parents have peace ofmind, knowing their child is in a supportive environment focused ondeveloping their true potential.

Kindergarten Klub Let us help get your child acclimated forall-day school. We are offering fun afternoon activities for yourkindergartner. There will be field games, crafts, science experiments,art activities, and other activities to enhance their learning fromschool. Help your children ease their transition from a half day ofschool to a full day of fun!

Extreme Afternoons Children will have an afternoon filled with groupgames, free-play activities, homework, crafts and more! Participantswill have the opportunity to rock climb once a week, swim twiceper week and play in the gym/fieldhouse twice per week. Snack isprovided. Bus service can be provided if there are at least 5 childrenattending the program per day from any school. Extreme afternoonsare not held on days when there is no school or half days.

SUMMER CAMP.BEST. SUMMER. EVER!Going to a summer camp is not only a memory your child will cherishforever, it also has the potential to change his or her life. As today'schildren are surrounded by modern technology, spending time in thegreat outdoors can be an eye-opening and rewarding experience.Summer camp allows your child the opportunity to learn new skills,form wonderful relationships with their peers and learn more aboutthemselves.Our camps:• Are American Camp Association accredited• Have professionally trained staff with over 40 hours of training,

including First Aid, CPR and AED• Provide instructional and recreational swimming as part of the

program (excludes camp locations without pools)• Are dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected

YOUTH PROGRAMSAt the Y, we're committed to helping kids betheir best selves. TUMBLINGYMCA tumbling classes are designed to give a full workout while improvingflexibility, coordination, balance and strength. We also work on listeningskills, following directions and social skills. Children receive exceptionalinstruction from well-trained instructors.

Tumbling Beginner Leap, pirouette, vault or flip your way into this classtoday! Our tumbling program focuses on fun while teaching every level oftumbling through proper technique and repetition. Every lesson includesgoal-oriented games and activities that make learning new skills fun!Developing balance, strength, coordination and flexibility will not only helpyour child develop into a strong tumbler, but will also help them develop inways that will improve their performance in all other sports as well! Climbing - Ascenders 7 Weeks This exciting class is designed tochallenge all participants to step out of their comfort zone under theguidance of our climbing staff. Participants will learn basic climbingtechniques. We will focus on goal-setting and striving to achieve individualand team goals. These classes are progressively designed to challenge avariety of experience levels.

Climbing - Belayers 7 Weeks This class is an introduction to basicclimbing movement and belay techniques. This is a progressive class thattakes participants from basic to intermediate skills of climbing. Participantswill learn harness and belay setup, top rope belay techniques, knots,movement on the wall, bouldering, safety skills and goal-setting. Uponcompletion of the belayer skills development program and belay test,climbers may progress to our Rock Solid program.

Climbing - Rock Solid Climbing-Rock Solid: This class is designed for thoseclimbers who have successfully completed our belayer skills developmentprogram and belay test. Climbers will learn advanced foot placement, bodymovement, route climbing, as well as an intro to lead climbing, quick draws,lead belaying and top rope management. Climbers in the program have anopportunity to participate in our Youth Demo Team.

NEPTUNE SWIM TEAMAges: 5-21Season: September 8 through districts in March

YOUTH AQUASPRITESSYNCHRONIZED SWIM TEAMSynchronized swimming combines music, dance and swimming into "theultimate team sport." Swimmers form close friendships with their teammatesas they train, travel and compete together. Each swimmer's training willchallenge him or her physically, while the artistic side of the sport providesan outlet for creative expression. The goal for all team members is to reachtheir potential while having fun!

Summer Synchronized Swim Team This program is for swimmers who canswim 75 feet front crawl and 75 feet back crawl. Participants willalso swim with members of the AquaSprites Synchro Team in the annualAquaSprites Water Show August 5.

PARENTS NIGHT OUTSome call it Kids Night Out. Some call it Parents Night Out. Whichever wayyou look at it, it's a fun-filled Friday night for everyone! Leave your children(ages 4 and up) at the Y for a structured night of fun. Kids will have a ballas they rock climb, play in the maze, go swimming, play games and best ofall, eat pizza! That's right, we even feed them! Cheaper than a babysitterand infinitely more fun. Let your kids spend the second Friday night of eachmonth at the Y.

Adult Swim Beginner It's never too late to learn! Go on... take thatplunge! Professional instruction for adults learning to swim in a safe andinteractive environment.

Adult Swim Advanced Beginner Participants must be able to front andback float independently and swim half the length of the pool. This class isfor the more advanced beginner who is already comfortable in the water butis ready to take it to the next step.

Adult Stroke Clinic For those who already swim and want to improve theirstrokes, this class will work on stroke techniques and training tips that willmake your strokes more efficient and increase your stamina.

Fluid Running For those who already swim and want to improve theirstrokes, this class will work on stroke techniques and training tips that willmake your strokes more efficient and increase your stamina.

Water Fitness (Included with membership):

Arthritis (AOA) Utilizes the warmth, buoyancy and resistive propertiesof water to help decrease stiffness and maintain joint mobility. It followsthe Arthritis Foundation program. Please check with your doctor beforeparticipating.

Complete Cardio This class utilizes various areas of the pool and a varietyof equipment to challenge your cardiovascular and muscular fitness.

In Too Deep This class is instructed in the deep end of the pool from6-to-10-feet deep. Participants must be comfortable in deep water to join.This class incorporates a variety of equipment for resistance to insure anintense cardiovascular workout in the deep end of the pool.

Water Fitness An energizing combination of cardiovascular work andtoning. This class is held mainly in shallow water, but also includesdeep-water work. Modifications will be available for those not comfortablewith deep water.

Access to All Paid Group Fitness Classes.For a single fee, all participants will be able to drop into any of theclasses available on the Fee-Based Group Fitness Schedule for the entiresession. GRIT: Les Mills GRIT® Small Group Training utilizes a specialty-trainedcoach who will take you through a proven 30-minute, high-intensityinterval training workout. There are 3 unique programs that focus onplyometrics, strength and cardio. Class times will vary; check the specialtyschedule for details.

KettleWorX: FAST, FUN & EFFECTIVE. Our innovative 3-dimensionaltraining program gets your body moving in 3 directions and on 3 planes formore effective whole-body workouts. We focus on the key areas of cardio,core and resistance.

KettleWorX CARDIO workouts are high-energy, fat-burning, total-bodyroutines. KettleWorX CORE workouts are designed to tighten your core andabdominal muscles. RESISTANCE workouts sculpt and tone your entire body.

Mat Pilates: Strengthening your powerhouse will improve core strength,stability, posture, balance and flexibility. This class combines the precisemovements of Pilates with traditional fitness elements commonly used forprevention and treatment of back pain. This class is suitable for all fitnesslevels and no experience is necessary.

Active Older Adults Program Join us for 2 water-based and 2 land-basedclasses each week that are designed specifically for the fitness needs ofan active older adult. We target functional fitness, range of motion andflexibility. Free for members. $25/month for program participants.

BODYPUMP This is the original barbell class that strengthens your entirebody. This workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using thebest weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.

Fit Fusion For intermediate-to-advanced fitness levels. An intervalclass that mixes calisthenics and body-weight exercises with cardio andstrength training.

Full Body Strength This workout uses standing and floor exercises to trainyour muscles. A variety of resistance equipment is used to improve musclestrength, endurance and power.

Indoor Cycle In this indoor stationary bike class set to music, the instructorwill lead you through a series of drills for a great cardio workout and a rideyou won't soon forget.

PiYo PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilateswith the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. We crank up the speedto deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your bodylooking long, lean and incredibly defined.

Power Hour This class will use a variety of exercise formats includingkickboxing, floor and/or step aerobics, plyometrics (exercises that train forspeed and power) and core conditioning to get your heart pumping! Thisclass is suitable for all fitness levels.

Silver Sneakers Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a varietyof exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement andactivities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles anda SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if neededfor seated or standing support. This class is suitable for all fitness levelsand no experience is necessary.

Silver Sneakers Yoga Have fun and move to the music through a variety ofexercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement,and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing withhandles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seatedand/or standing support.

Stability Ball Sculpt This class utilizes stability balls and various resistanceequipment to create a total-body strength training session. Have a ball andget strong.

Strength (AOA) For active older adults and beginners, this class is acombination of walking, light-impact aerobics, toning and stretching.

WERQ WERQ is the fiercely fun dance fitness workout class based onpop, rock and hip-hop music taught by certified fitness professionals.The signature WERQ warmup previews the dance steps used in class andthe signature WERQ cooldown includes balance and yoga-inspired poses.Are you ready to WERQ?

Yoga A Vinyasa flow, linking breath to movement with holds in poses andattention to alignment. Modifications given throughout class.

Zumba A fusion of Latin dance that combines motivating music with uniquemoves and combinations that allow the Zumba participant to dance awaytheir worries. It is based on principles that a workout should be fun andeasy to do.
