6. Summary of ALL Site Features & Evaluation of Significance:
The feature is a one room prairie school on a wood foundation. The school was moved to this location. The hip roof of the school and the dormer are covered with asphalt shingles. There is a narrow stove pipe on the north slope of the roof. A shed addition to the north has a metal roof. The soffits are closed with beadboard. The building measures 34 1/2 feet east to west by 20 1/2 feet north to south with the shed addition measuring 14 feet by 12 feet.
A wide trim board runs around all four walls just under the soffit. The remaining siding is 6 inch wood lap with 6 inch corner trim. There dormer is built on an angle into the east facing slope of the roof and the three sides are boarded up. Under the dormer, on the east wall, is an opening, also boarded up, that was most likley a door and above the opening is a 4 pane fixed window. On the north side the entry has a newer door on the east side with a fixed pane window on the north wall. This is the main entry to the building which has served as a home. On the north side of the school wall, near the east end, there is a double hung, four over four, window with glass intact. There is a covered window on the south wall near the east end of the building that would mirror the north side window and the remaining wall has 6 mostly covered double hung, four over four, windows with the bottom of two of them uncovered and has intact glass. The floor is linoleum over hardwood. Wainscot is present. No other interior information is available. Wiring and light fixture at the entry door suggest electricity.
