Alexander City: The

church at Alexander City

is pleased to announce the

appointment of our new

pastor, Roy Wooten, of

Hartselle, Al. and wife

Mindy, with daughter

Jayden.

Altoone: W e had a

special Christmas in July

on the 12 of July. th

Everyone received gifts

and a special Christmas

dinner afterwards. We

were happy to have our

State Overseer Brother

Jones with us. Sister

Kathy Taylor did a

wonderful job in organizing everything.

Anniston-Praise & Worship: Our pastor

and wife were given a “welcome back

basket” full of gifts. We prayed over them

for the coming years. There were 54 in

attendance and 1 young man got saved and

another young woman joined the church in

covenant membership. We have a Hispanic

family, Hector and Alicia Chun, that have

moved from the Spanish COGOP in

Guntersville. He is a Lay Ministerand we

are confident that a Spanish Ministry will be

developed here through their ministry. We

glorify God for what He is doing here in the

Anniston church.

Alton: KiDzMaNiA! The year of the Killer

Wave was packed full of Awesome

Puppets! Radically Special Characters!

Killer Science Experiments & Games! The

CoWaBuNgA Prize Patrol! Groovy Music!

And Cool Worship Time! Mr. Freezo, the

giant penguin (Pastor Daniel) and Gidget,

the wayout surfer girl (Pastor Laura) created

a dynamic duo bringing the awesome Word

of God to the children (as well as the

adults). Seeing the children praying,

singing, dancing, worshiping God, and

playing games was absolutely amazing! I

must say that seeing the adults join in was

radically cool dude! Robert Chamblee and

Eleanor Bailey helped collect seashells,

Opal McGowan joined in the penguin

march, Doris Reese walked on eggs, Elease

Johns attempted to knock down a pyramid

of cans by shooting them with a rubber band

(not much luck)...oh and by the way...

Bishop L. V. Jones tried the same thing

knocking them down a few at a time and

closing the deal by shooting the last can at

the very last second! He even won a prize!

Vanessa Brown, Adeline Turner, Charlotte

Wiggins and Laura Stronge were disciples

in a pretend boat doing their best to keep

from falling out as the children circled

around them creating lightning, thunder,

wind, and waves. Finally, they saw Jesus

walking on the water toward them and they

weren’t afraid anymore. And we topped it

off with a hotdog and cookie lunch, a huge

water slide, and other fun water games

Sunday afternoon! Total Kidz=44 and

Total Adult Kidz=59. The Kidz “Collected

SeaShells” with a total offering of $455.89!

A fun time for all! Wow! It was an

absolutely, radically cool, awesome

KiDzMaNiA and we are already preparing

for next year. We thank God for a new

covenant member, Quinette McCurry.

Browntown: We had several events this

month that included; Family Day, Pastor

and wife birthdays celebration, State

Convention and Kids Crusade. The

crusade’s theme was “Blast to the Past” and

a total attendance of 20 children.

Chickasaw: We’ve had

some wonderful services

this month. The Lord is

blessing! Our youth had a

Sunday School party that

was enjoyed by everyone.

C o l l i n s v i l l e - H a r v e s t

Center: The response to

the ministry of the Holy

Spirit is overwhelming.

David Woods has been

pouring into our young

people in particular, but we

are all receiving a fresh

taste of the Spirit. We have

been and continue to be

truly revived. We have

couples returning back and

two families that want to come and visit

after the revival.

Fayette-North Pointe: North Pointe

members and praise team enjoyed attending

the convention. We were blessed by the

classes and messages from all the teachers

and ministers. It was great to connect with

our brothers and sisters across the state.

We were blessed to witness the ordination

of Brother Shane Watkins as a minister and

our Pastor Brent Smalley receiving his

Bishop license. Our children’s leader and

youth are excited about growing and

launching new ministries. We welcomed

the men’s choir from Peaceful Rest Baptist

Church with a time of fellowship

afterwards.

Gadsden-Living Waters: Gadsden closed

a revival with David Woods with 3 getting

saved, 3 sanctified and 3 receiving the Holy

Ghost.

Goodwater-Joyful Praise: There were 5

members received this month: Darlina

W ilson, T erry Thompson, Allison

Thompson, Lillian Thompson and Leanana

Thompson. Praise God!

Greenpond: VBS. “Journey Off The Map”,

was huge success. Sixteen young people

accepted Christ as their Savior. The

teachers were anointed. Each night was

filled with excitement. The singing, classes,

crafts, games and skits were awesome. The

church and class rooms were beautifully

decorated for the journey. The last night,

parents and grandparents came to see the

children in action. The offering received is

helping a young man on the mission trip to

Nepal. Seventy-five were in attendance

with fifty-one being children. Our 4 ofth

July Celebration was great with one

Page 12: Alabama Update September 2015

hundred and thirty in attendance. Food, fun

and fellowship were enjoyed but cut short

due to one of the mortar shells exploding

and injuring our youth director, Neal Pate.

Praise God he is making a speedy recovery.

We had a 4 of July service and specialth

thanks was given to all active and retired

military and those who gave their life for

our freedom. The State Convention was

enjoyed by those attending. The classes

were great. We also, had three saved in our

services and one joined the church this

month.

Hackleburg: We have been training to host

a Celebrate Recovery Ministry at HCC and

have been officially accepted. Our launch

date for first official gathering is August

18 and the state representative forth

Alabama CR will be with us for that first

service and support group session. We are

thrilled to have become apart of such an

incredible tool to disciple the hurting and

heal the wounded. To be a true and

approved CR ministry, training and

discipleship of leaders must take place first.

To date we have already been training and

preparing for 6 months to serve as a

Celebrate Recovery venue. This ministry is

designed to help recover from hurts, habits

and hang-ups.

Huntsville-Mastin Lake: The first mission

team from “the church building project” in

the Dominican Republic returned home.

They poured the foundation, raised the first

columns and laid the first blocks. We had

five churches involved and three pastors on

this trip. We were so blessed to help our

brothers and sisters in their effort to build a

church. Since then, we had one in our

church to be saved and we are so thankful

for this new child of God. We also,

welcomed Stacy Tuttle and family as Youth

Pastor. We were overjoyed to see five of

our children move up into Youth Ministries

as they were presented Study Bibles to

personally take their faith deeper.

Leesburg: July was a busy month with our

Youth Explosion and VBS. This year our

Youth Ministries conducted a Youth

Explosion ( VBS for youth). It started on

Sunday night with a visiting missionary

from Ecuador, Rick Waldrup, and continued

through Wednesday night with food, fun,

music and evangelism and with an average

attendance of 50. There were several

salvation experiences. Kids Under

Construction was the theme for our annual

VBS. We enjoyed a full week of songs and

dance, classes, crafts, refreshments and

spiritual growth on the foundation of Jesus

Christ and our Bible as the blueprints. For

closing exercises on Sunday, we reviewed

the happenings of the week, fed everyone

lunch, played on a huge inflatable

waterslide and then everyone walking down

to the river for a baptism of 28 people of all

ages. We ended with an average attendance

of 150, 18 saved, 28 baptized. We

welcome Pastor Tim and Ann Douglas back

as our Pastors!

Parrish: We were all touched as one gave

her heart to God. We had not witnessed

such a sorrowful outcry to God in quite

some time. Thankful.

Short Creek: Praise God for Camp

Boothe! All our children came home

revived and on fire. Thanks to all the Staff.

Wonderful State Convention! We pray

everyone was ‘empowered’ as they left the

convention to continue their work for God.

To God be the glory for our State Staff and

Overseer. Revival is in the air at Short

Creek!

Tarrant: We were blessed to have fifteen

people attend the State Convention. We are

doing fund-raisers for retreats and our

children are encouraged to bring their Bible

and learning how to use them. We had a

great attendance at our Luau for Family

Night. The Holy Spirit has been blessing

our services with His presence!

Trinity: We have been having some

outstanding services with the Holy Spirit

filling the altars with seekers. We are

beginning Month-Of-Sunday’s Revival in

September.

Tips For Abundant Life

Carolyn Guyton

Being intentional. I recently received a

blog post from a fellow coach about how to

be intentional with time and money. My

immediate thought when I read the topic

was how these same steps also apply to our

Spiritual lives. What do we mean by being

intentional? It means not just accepting

what comes along, but rather creating a

deliberate plan with an intended purpose

and then acting on it. Prayerfully seeking

God while taking the following steps will

help you to create and follow this plan.

Use tools. Prayerful reading of the Bible is

the primary tool. We must know the Word

of God in order to create our plan and

ensure that it agrees with the Word. If we

find a discrepancy, we must seek God for

direction to clarify His will. I also

recommend using a clock and possibly the

alarm on your phone. Setting a specific

time every day for communing with God

and studying His Word is a great part of

living intentionally for God.

Find a partner. An accountability partner is

a safeguard to keep us on track. Select a

person you have confidence in, who will be

a real friend and speak truth into your life.

Then share your plan for intentionality and

keep them updated on your progress

regularly. It is easy to let things slide when

we don’t have someone watching out for us.

Put away distractions. Once you have

developed your plan for intentionality,

don’t allow anything to distract you from

taking the action you set out for yourself.

Keep your plan on your mind, and on paper

in places you frequent, to maintain focus.

Refuse to let anything interfere with your

private devotion time or stepping out of

your comfort zone according to your plan.

It isn’t always easy to be intentional, but the

results are more than worth the effort.

Seek every day for the abundant life that

only comes from God.
