    Medical Biller/ Patient Account Specialist

To Discover1 Adheres to service level standards2 Performs billing functions (electronic and manual) and daily reconciles to downloads from IDXto HDS to the respective third party payor3 Resolves invoices and claims in follow up work queues from billing, denials, and partialpayments using Access database, HDS, IDX, PCS and other reporting tools4 Applies line-item payments and denials posting to open invoices and reconciles batches daily to

    lock box deposits5 Communicates positively and effectively with patients and others answering telephone andcorrespondence inquiries, using problem-solving skills to assist external customers in resolvingtheir balance and insurance coverage issues6 Troubleshoots problems that arise with regards to patient accounts and insurance coverageissues. Educates callers on processes and insurance coverage matters; updates IDX database asnecessary7 Resolves financial problems to facilitate collection of patient liability balances through telephoneand in-person patient contact. Determines appropriate payment method based on patient's ability topay and makes recommendations using established guidelines8 Provides financial counseling to patients regarding financial responsibility and interacts with

    contracted agencies for financial assistance or external collection9 Maintains department files and updates tracking database with productivity data10 Maintains current knowledge in third party payor billing and reimbursement trends includinggovernment, commercial and managed care payorsPerforms basic administrative and clerical duties to support this function and may be required toperform other duties as neededEducation/Expertise:High school diploma or equivalent required
