General Information As an extension of St. Philip’s Episcopal School After School Program, Enrichment classes are designed to complement a rigorous day of academic learning. By providing students with invaluable opportunities to explore, Enrichment classes help nurture students' creative and extracurricular interests. These classes enhance a student's education by bringing new con-cepts to light or by using old concepts in new ways. Activities are fun for the student, but they also impart knowledge. We offer a myriad of exciting after school enrichment classes for students in Nursery through Fifth Grade. Some of the most popular activities include Soccer, Spanish Ole , Irish Dancing, Mind Lab, Gymnastics, T-Ball, Green Monkey Yoga, Tennis Clin-ic, Running Club, Photography, Abrakadoodle Art, Cooking with Kids, and Fun Bus Fitness Program. Piano Lessons: for scheduling please contact Mr. Harrell at 305.742.5369 or [email protected] Registration On Monday, September 12, 2011, the Fall Enrichment Semes-ter will begin. Please do not send payment with your regis-tration. An invoice will be mailed to you by the Business Office for the full amount for all Enrichment classes. Remember that registration is on a first come, first served ba-sis. We may need to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. One uniform per student is provided for all sports. Registration deadline is Friday, August 26, 2011. An after deadline $50.00 late fee will be added to your bill for late registration. No exceptions. Classes will not be made up due to unforeseen cancellations. Enrichment catalogs are sent home before the beginning of each trimester. Refunds A $50.00 credit is provided if class is dropped after the first meeting. No credits or refunds are offered after the first week of the season.

ELITE SOCCER TRAINING CO-ED (SRK-5TH) The goal of elite soccer training is to challenge every player to improve his/her skills while having fun playing the world's most popular game. Every session is structured according to a player’s strengths, weaknesses, and developmental needs. The main focus of each session is “Ball Mastery,” which is the foun-dation of success in soccer. SOCCER LEAGUE GIRLS (1ST-2ND) Take your soccer game to the next level under the expert in-struction of Coach Vasquez. You’ll become adept at one touch and two-touch passing, trapping with both feet, redirecting shots and marking your opponent. 3:30-5:00 Coach Vasquez and staff $335
ABRAKADOODLE ART (N-2ND) This program allows the use of analytical and perceptual skills, along with creativity. Students learn to problem solve, color, pay attention to detail, and build self-esteem. Children learn to draw in a nurturing, positive environment. BALLET (N-JRK) Our ballerinas develop poise, self-assurance, and a sense of rhythm, balance, and strength. The Maria Verdeja School of the Arts, founded in 1987, offers top quality teachers in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and Pointe. N-JRK: 2:15-3:15 The Maria Verdeja School of the Arts Staff $250

TENNIS CLINIC (JRK-5TH) Learn tennis with professional tennis instructors at Salvadore Park. Children will learn how to control the racquet and the ball, placement drills, and tactics and strategies for the game. Classes are held Mondays or Wednesdays. FUN BUS FITNESS FUN ON WHEELS (N-5TH) The FUN BUS is a full- sized school bus whose seats have been removed and walls and floor are carpeted and padded. The FUN BUS philosophy is to enhance learning going on inside the classroom, using a hands-on approach to FITNESS and making it FUN for the young child, boy or girl, rain or shine! JAZZ (SRK-5TH) Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's indi-vidual style and originality. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. 3:30-4:30 The Maria Verdeja School of the Arts Staff $250
KARATE (SRK-5TH) Master Argon and his associates will bring this exciting class to us through Balance for Life. This introductory class will fo-cus on the development of self-discipline skills, following di-rections, and respect. 3:30-4:30 Master Argon $250

WEDNESDAY CLASSES
SPANISH OLECITO (N-JRK) Studies have shown that in order to achieve fluency learning a language from an early age is essential. Younger children are more likely than older children to be fearless at trying out a second language and this makes it easier for them to learn to pronounce words accurately and to speak without translating. No fluen-cy in the language is necessary, just a desire to learn Spanish and have fun! 2:15-3:00 Señora Olsen $250
MIND LAB (N-5TH) Mind Lab is an innovative and research-based program that helps students en-hance their cognitive, social, and emotional skills using a series of international-ly acclaimed mind games. Using these games will teach the fundamentals of strategy, problem solving, decision making, teamwork, communication, and will expand their thinking strategies. IRISH DANCING (N-5TH) We are pleased to continue our partnership with Breffni Academy of Irish Dance. This class provides a safe and wholesome environment to explore the use of creative minds in relation to dance. CHESS CLUB (1ST-5TH) This class will be taught by experienced chess professionals from Chess Academy. Pieces, positions, and strategy are the theme to this instructive course that teaches patience, discipline, concentration, and sportsman-ship. Learn the fundamentals of this mind game as you pair up with oth-er students to sharpen your knowledge of chess. 3:30-4:30 Chess Academy Staff $250
THURSDAY CLASSES GREEN MONKEY YOGA (N-5TH) Time to Monkey around! Green Monkey will now be offering Green Monkey Kids Yoga (a.k.a. Chimps Yoga) for our enrichment program. With their "live in balance" philosophy, Green Monkey yoga classes encourage self-esteem and mind-body awareness without the "competitive" nature of other physi-cal activities. Yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques and the deeper concepts of compassion and cooperation are all set to a perfect mix of music - and all add up to a whole lotta Monkey fun! BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY (4TH-5TH) Students will learn rules of composition and photo and lighting techniques to create digital images. Basic digital camera functions, such as megapixels, cropping, and enlargements will be discussed to create a photography port-folio. SUPER SONICS JUMP ROPE (SRK-5TH) Jumping rope is just part of the fun in this high-energy workout class. Stu-dents exercise while playing a series of games that develop agility, coordina-tion, core muscles, and upper and lower-body strength in an exciting and natural environment. FRIDAY CLASSES
SPANISH OLÉ (SRK-5TH) In today's competitive academic environment, we are all looking to give our kids that additional edge. Meanwhile, global developments continue to increase the demand for bilingual professionals. Why not prepare our children for this from the get-go? Chil-dren will interact and use everyday conversational Spanish in a non-threatening and fun atmosphere. Games, songs, food, and cultural activities will be at the center of this class. 3:30-4:30 Señora Olsen $250
T-BALL (N-JRK) This is an introductory class that teaches the basic skills with emphasis on fun. Stu-dents will work on the mechanics of the game with lots of batting practice, pitching, catching, throwing, and running the bases. 2:15-3:00 Coach Vasquez and Staff $250
GYMNASTICS (N-2ND) Gymnastics is an activity that children enjoy as they develop physical strength, flexi-bility, and balance. Gym Kidz certified gymnastic instructors will be teaching at St. Philip’s once again. N-JRK: 2:15-3:00 / SRK-2nd: 3:30-4:30 Gym Kidz Staff $250
RUNNING CLUB (3RD-5TH) Back by popular demand! Students will train once a week, learning proper stretching and running form techniques. Training will begin with a one mile distance using walk/run in-tervals, then increase to at least three miles. We’ll run a 5K race at the session’s end and all participants will receive finisher medals. Runners may also join Saint Philip’s at the Miami Children’s Hospital 5K, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and the Junior Orange Bowl Parade. Sports watch with interval timer suggested.

THURSDAY CLASSES
COOKING WITH KIDS (N-5TH) Chef Maria brings this exciting class to us from Cooking with Kids Miami. This pro-gram is designed to help students understand the importance of nutrition while learn-ing to eat new foods. Cooking programs benefit children in their development by promoting nutrition and proper food handling, introducing science, math, geography and social skills, and most importantly, kids who get involved in cooking and learn about where foods come from tend to develop healthier eating habits.
