With this letter, I would like to express my interest in applying to an internship in your company.

I am currently in my eight semester of business administration at the University of Eafit. Having looked through all the internships offered, I was very delighted to find the opportunity to spend one semester learning business and marketing at your company. I have decided to apply for this program because it would truly enrich my knowledge in the business area and give me the experience I desire to get in touch with Luxury Management.

This is the company I have chosen to apply to because my next goal is to obtain a Masters in Luxury Management in the University of Bocconi in Italy. I am really interested in everything that has to do with this segment of the market since I see great potential in Colombia. I believe my country is ready to become global and everyday I see more people taking consciousness in the products that they buy, they no longer see a product and think of the price but look at the prestige, the status that comes behind it.

I lived in Australia for 6 moths, and I saw that this market is growing very fast in the Asian perspective. This type of consumer wants to feel identified with the brand; they want to have all the attributes the brand is offering when buying the product. Quality, precision, innovation and design are just a few of the many characteristics consumers of this types of good like. I have traveled to Australia, to Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Spain, Italy, France and USA, and I believe to be a very well rounded candidate who is not only focused on skill but also on the knowledge and dedication that it takes to fulfill a company’s strategy in a foreign environment. I´m motivated with cultural empathy and language skills to communicate important ideas.

I love being out of my comfort zone. In Australia I learned that living alone is just fine. I went there by my self and studied in one of the top universities for one semester. I had a lot of enriching activities like travelling, starting to learn Italian, and learning about a lot of different cultures. While I was there the experience helped me mature and inspired me with creative business ideas. I went to David Johns, a department store such as Neiman Marcus, and I went to Napoleon, a very important makeup brand, and spoke to the manager and came up with a trade. I gave her Spanish classes in exchange for makeup classes. I currently do makeup and sell makeup imported from the USA, as a small business. What I love about the sector of Luxury is that it is never in crisis, people always want more and wants to invest their time and money into it.

I consider myself a very willing and helpful person. So, as for working, I will do it with all the passion in the world, willing to learn, adapt, share and get the most out of the opportunity so that later on I could apply the experience in Colombia and provide employment. I love giving back. I dream of founding a big company some day, and along with it, a foundation for people with fewer opportunities than those I´ve had. Moreover, I am confident that my experience in your company would be extremely exciting, fun, and valuable for both my studies and overall general development, as well as for my co-workers.

Last year I worked as a business development manager in Lordstrom. My work has helped me develop a thorough insight into the business and encouraged me to return to the academic world for further growth. This job has given me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and meet with clients as their channel from Colombia to the USA.

To conclude, I want to mention that my family is my greatest support. I am so very grateful that they have given me this opportunity. My dad is my role model as a leading entrepreneur. He always says that to be a great business manager I need to be willing to take risks everyday and this is what I am doing by deciding to go wherever the internship takes me. Here I am betting on my future for a change that will positively mark my life and career, helping me expand not only as a business manager but also as a world citizen.
