INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

RECONCILIATION A priest is available for Confessions on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. You can also make an individual appoint-ment. PARISH DEVOTIONS Our Lady of Fatima Novena and Rosary Monday 7:30 pm.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners, We are in the second week of July. This is a month many take vacations. It is a month to en-joy and experience summer outdoor activities. Enjoy your summer! In the old Catholic calendar, Pius IX made the first Sunday of July a feast for the Precious Blood of Jesus. He encouraged that the month be dedicated to this devotion. It is no longer on the calendar, however I mention the devotion during this month because it is good to recall images in our Catholic culture that help point us to important mysteries of our faith. The Precious Blood of Christ is a devotion that re-minds us of the blood that Christ shed for us in the sacrifice of his passion and cross. This sacri-fice is the passage way for our redemption in Christ. Jesus made the sacrifice that conquered sin and death. He calls us to unite with him in this loving sacrifice. He calls us to love with a perfect love that he has shown us on the cross. The heat of July also reminds me of the third apparition of Our Lady at Fatima on July 13, 1917. It was in this apparition that Mary, Our Mother, showed Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta the horrifying vision of hell. A caring mother will make her children aware of the unpleasant, painful, dangerous things that may happen to them if they go the wrong way in life. A mother will warn her children about bad things in order to help them to be aware of what will harm them. Mary, Our Mother, cares about us and showed the shepherd children the terrifying view of what happens to those souls who refuse to listen to God and are lost to the Devil. Jesus shed his precious blood so that we may know how much he loves us and choose to reject things that are ungodly and destructive to our relationship with him. Enjoy the hot weather and see how God’s creation is flourishing. May we flourish as well in our spirit with the fire of God’s love.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO

Queridos feligreses, Estamos en la segunda semana de julio. En este mes muchos toman vacaciones. Es un mes para disfrutar y experimentar las actividades de verano al aire libre. ¡Disfruta tu verano! En el antiguo calendario católico, Pío IX hizo el primer domingo de julio una fiesta para la Preciosa Sangre de Jesús. Alentó a que el mes se dedique a esta devoción. Ya no está en el calendario, sin embargo, menciono la devoción durante este mes porque es bueno recordar imágenes de nuestra cultura católica que nos ayudan a señalar importantes misterios de nuestra fe. La Preciosa Sangre de Cristo es una devoción que nos recuerda la sangre que Cristo derramó por nosotros en el sacrificio de su pasión y cruz. Este sacrificio es nuestro camino hacia la redención a Cristo. Jesús hizo el sacrificio que venció el pecado y la muerte. Él nos llama a unirnos con él en este sacrificio amoroso. Nos llama a amar con un amor perfecto que nos ha mostrado en la cruz. El calor de julio también me recuerda a la tercera aparición de Nuestra Señora en Fátima el 13 de julio de 1917. Fue en esta aparición que María, Nuestra Madre, mostró a Lucía, Francisco y Jacin-ta la horrible visión del infierno. Una madre cariñosa hará que sus hijos se den cuenta de las cosas desagradables, dolorosas y peligrosas que pueden sucederles si van por el camino equivocado en la vida. Una madre advertirá a sus hijos sobre cosas malas para ayudarles a estar conscientes de lo que les hará daño. María, Nuestra Madre, se preocupa por nosotros y les mostró a los niños pastores la visión aterradora de lo que les sucede a aquellas almas que se niegan a escuchar a Dios y se pierden ante el Diablo. Jesús derramó su sangre preciosa para que podamos saber cuánto nos ama y elegir rechazar las cosas que son impías y destructivas para nuestra relación con él. Disfruta del clima cálido y ob-serva cómo la creación de Dios está floreciendo. Que podamos florecer también en nuestro espíritu con el fuego del amor de Dios.

LA SOMBRA DE DIOS El amor es la sombra de Dios en nuestro universo. —Anónimo LA LLAMADA DEL SEÑOR ¿Qué es lo más agradable que la voz del Señor que te llama? CONFIANZA La confianza no siempre se tiene por tener la razón, sino por no tener miedo a equivocarse.

LA PROVIDENCIA DE DIOS Las lecturas de hoy celebran la providencia de Dios. No importa lo maravilloso (o doloroso) que sean nuestras relaciones, Dios siempre nos provee. Nadie cuida tanto de nosotros como lo hace Dios.

Isaías nos deleita con una imagen profundamente intima de Dios cuidándonos “como una madre cuida de su hijo”. El profeta nos describe no como los habituales “hijos de Dios” sino como “bebés”. No debemos resistirnos a esta imagen, sino regocijarnos con ella. Confiando en el cuidado de Dios, nosotros podemos bajar la guardia y descansar como bebés en el regazo de nuestra madre.

La confianza de san Pablo en Dios le permite estar en paz. Audazmente dice que nadie puede “ponerle obstáculos” por que se ha entregado completamente a Jesús. Y cuando Jesús envía a sus discípulos a predicar y sanar, él los desafía a no cargar nada para ellos, sino tener fe en su guía.
