4th Sunday of Lent

**REMEMBER: ENVELOPES FOR EASTER FLOWERS ARE IN THE BACK OF THE CHURCH**

Lenten Activities

“The Light is on for You”

Reconciliation will be available March 2, 9, and 16 from 6:30-7:30 PM in the Church .

Lenten Evening Prayer

Come on Thursdays throughout Lent at 7:30 PM in the church. The Church’s most ancient prayer form, the Liturgy of the Hours (or Divine Office) is grounded in the worship of the synagogue. Great care is taken to create a prayerful atmosphere with candles, incense, subdued lighting, periods of silence, and song. This week’s homilist will be Mary Herx-Morrill. All are welcome.

Mercy & Healing Presentation

Please join us after the 8:30 AM Mass on Sunday, March 13, for a presentation and conversation led by Joe Favazza. The focus of this session will be on the limits and possibilities of forgiveness, a topic that connects to the compelling gospel reading that day about the woman caught in adultery and Jesus’ response to her. It also connects to our own Lenten journey. The session will end prior to the 10:45 AM Mass.

Please check www.olossharon.org for a complete calendar of events at OLOS.

What’s Happening at OLOS

Save the Date! Father Bullock Lectureo on April 2, 2016 The eleventh Annual Lecture in memory of Father Robert W. Bullock, our late beloved pastor, will be held on April 2, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM in O’Connell Hall. Our lecturer will be Rabbi Joseph Meszler, of Temple Sinai in Sharon. Rabbi’s topic will be “Mercy and Justice in the Context of our Current Times.”

Easter Baskets Needed for Homeless Shelter

Please remember to return Easter baskets for the Evelyn House homeless shelter by the weekend of March 19th & 20th. Baskets may be left under the tree in the alcove. For questions, please call Mary Ann LaHive 781-784-1394 or email [email protected]. Thank you!

This Fourth Week of Lent, we continue to follow Catholic Relief Services’ Rice Bowl Project through Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Through their literature and app, we have journeyed to Columbia (Hungering for Opportunity), Laos (Hungering to Give Back) and Rwanda (Hungering for a Healthy Start). Now we journey to Honduras to meet students who are Hungering to Learn. Their lesson: it’s better to help your neighbor learn and grow than to leave her or him behind. To who are we called to extend a hand this week? Whom has God put in our lives to help us learn and grow? Are there teachers or guides for whom you are thankful?

Thy Will Be Done: The Function of Prayer in Mark’s Gospel March 15th at 5:30 PM– Boston College, Heights Room, Corcoran Commons.

Professor Thomas Stegman will provide insight into the role of Jesus as the model of someone who prays and the significance of prayer among the new family gathered around Jesus, those who are committed to doing God's will.

From Senior Deacon Mike:

In this fourth Sunday of Lent, we hear the remarkable story of a father and two sons. This is a story of mercy, forgiveness, and love. The narrative is the last of the three

accounts in chapter 15 of Luke’s Gospel in which the people rejoice in finding the lost – a sheep, a coin, a son. These separate accounts are interwoven such that the reader/listener will come to realize the magnanimous gift of God’s love for the missing. “..he was lost and now is found..”

Youth Ministry Activities

Live Stations of the Cross: The Youth Ministry Program at Our Lady of Sorrows is presenting a live enactment of the Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 18, at 7:00 PM in the Church. Through prayer, silent acting, music, and narration, we will commemorate the last hours and events of Jesus' life. All are welcome to come to this prayerful evening. Youth Commission Meeting: All high school students are invited to attend the March 14th Youth Commission Meeting, from 7-8:30 PM in the Bullock Center. The Youth Commission is the parish’s high school youth group, and during this meeting we will be making plans for the remainder of the year, as well as socializing and eating snacks, of course!

Blessed Sacrament School Open House March 16th from 9-10:30 AM Blessed Sacrament in Walpole will be having an Open House for preschool to 8th grade. For more information, contact [email protected].

All are Welcome March 14th, Monday at St Margaret Church Hall, Burlington, Ma form 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Come enjoy a morning of reflection with Kevin Dowd of Boston College. He will be examining the virtue of faith during Lent and the Triduum. In preparing for Easter, we not only prepare for the calendar Easter but the final Easter of our lives. He will use the journey of Fr. Daniel Harrington, SJ from health to cancer to death as a model of faith.

Can you spare an Hour?

Mary needs a volunteer who can assist at the Cottage Street School on Sunday mornings during Faith Formation classes on March 13th, April 3 and 10th, and May 1st from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Please call Mary or Lynn at 781-784-2265 if you can help, even if it is for just one Sunday. Thank you!
