Knights of Columbus Council 1074

Wilmington Council 1074 of the Knights of Colum-bus will host their 6th annual CHARITY golf tourna-ment to benefit the Special Olympics on Monday September 17th at the Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington. This will be a fun event that solely benefits those with intellectual and physical disabilities. Registration is open to all and more details will follow in the coming months.. Interested now? The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.8 million members in over 15,000 local councils. The Basilica Shrine at St. Mary ESL Program Classes will be on Sundays from 10:45AM to 12:15PM in the Amy Brad-ley of the Tileston Center. The Sister Isaac Center Mary Ann Kotas, Director
Although the Sister Isaac Center is a ministry of the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, we are helped by many other neighboring churches. St. Mark, Immaculate Conception, St. Brendan and St. Therese parishes are home to many of our volunteers . St Mark supports us generously with funds each quarter; we are able to give extra help to many families in need. Their school moms organize clothing drives for us; they even help with the sorting and shelving of the items; they organize drives to help us with food and gifts for families at the holidays. The Columbiettes are busy contributing all year long - bags of hygiene items, holiday baskets and more. Immaculate Conception runs a Souper Bowl party each year, re-sulting in hundreds of cans of soup for us. St. Therese organized a huge diaper drive for us a couple months ago. Immaculate Conception and St. Therese also provide us with funds. We have volunteers that are members of Grace United Methodist, Little Chapel on the Boardwalk Presbyterian, Goshen Baptist, and St. Nicho-las Greek Orthodox to name a few. Little Chapel gives us funds and they often bring in donations of clothing and household items as well. The Agape Circle from Grace United often brings in cash donations, brand new items of household goods and year after year they bring in brand new toys for us to share in our Christmas room. The United Meth-odist women recently invited me to visit and presented me with a check.
This is just a sampling of the ways we are supported throughout the church communities - I surely have not named them all. These are all relationships that were built through the years since we were founded by Sr. Isaac. We are blessed to have their continuing support as we carry on with our mission to serve needy men, women and their families by offer-ing a hand up, not just a hand out. Special Need of the Week: - Cereal and umbrellas to share with our guests. Also, during the summer weeks, we see many more children coming in along with their parents. Our supply of small toys is running low and we’d like to have more to be able to share with them. The Sister Isaac Center’s last date for the summer is Tuesday July 31. In the first interview, Bob Marshall shares his work in the Virginia House of Delegates and working for Congress where he helped craft laws protect-ing religious liberty, the unborn, and traditional marriage, and in his book, he shares what he learned while working in politics and how we are all called to be civic activists.
