ResearchiGuzziniconcept

It is estimated that the luminousefficiency of LED's will double in5 years and almost triple in 13 years,consequently increasing theenergy saving.

ResearchiGuzzini has always been sensitive to needs and requirements of themarket; the Company utilizes itstechnical and cultural lighting know-how to offer highly innovativeinstruments that are able to knowinglycombine LED technology, design,and the top quality that has alwaysaccompanied iGuzzini products. Today’s modern life has ever morerisks tied to pollution and the need tomoderate the use of traditional energysources. We need to be more andmore vigilant when it comes to theenvironment.Lighting, therefore, has to contributeto energy savings and provide asolution to the rising costs ofelectricity, all the while yielding thesame lighting efficiency as always.

LED technology single-handedlytakes on this role. At first used forsignalling and indicator lighting, it hasradically changed, becoming today’s“light of the future”. LEDs haveinnovative and advanced technicalfeatures, as well as a very small size,which allow the products to beinserted into any light fitting. LEDs are therefore the most effectivealternative to traditional lamps(incandescent, fluorescent, and halogen) when lighting interiorsand exterior public, industrialand private areas.

PerformanceiGuzziniconcept

Via special devices (chips) it is possibleto insert and manage a large numberof LEDs in one fitting at the same time(even different coloured LEDs).This guarantees maximumcustomization and managementof light and colour to create beautifullight scenery.

An LED (“Light Emitting Diode”) has low energy consumptionand high potential yield. Producedand built without interior filaments (which are more fragile and subjectto rupture), or mobile parts, LEDsensure a longer life and moredependability compared to other lamps

The development process of LEDproducts is complex and delicate. It takes attentive quality controls toproduce a fitting that complies withrequirements. Therefore iGuzzini hascontrols at each step of the productionprocess in order to produce fittings with top quality and top performance.

different needs of industrial designers• Designs drivers to control the technical

• Develops innovative software that is able to make control panels and LED management simple

• Offers highly functional accessories that create eclectic light direction, all the while respecting safety and visual comfort

In order to guarantee the LED fittings' top efficiency and maximumquality, iGuzzini uses a careful binningprocess for each solution, an accuratecontrol system, and a qualitativeselection of LEDs that will be usedbased upon the colour temperature of each. A colour range for each LED is determined so that the colourtemperature will remain constant.

Saving Energy is an issue thatrequires attention and dedication.As a testament to our devotion toenergy savings, "-CO2 ReLighting"was born. This project's objectiveis light quality by using less energy,and therefore less CO2 emissions.To do this, iGuzzini has made fittingsand lighting systems that usetechnology to contain the amountof energy that is used and thereforeto reduce pollution:

High efficiency lamps, high yieldoptics and electronic componentsthat can connect networks withcontrol systems in order to managefittings. We can thus reduce energyrequirements by using electricity inadequate quantities and only when it is truly needed.

LED temperature control systemIn view of the extreme operationconditions, the electronic circuitmonitors the LED temperaturecontinuously, varying the currentintensity to maintain the averagelife LED unchanged. If the internaltemperature increases, the currentis automatically reduced to avoidthe overheating of the LED junctiontemperature.

The products equipped with theinnovative street optics for LEDguarantee very high performancesand total safety over time and indifficult environmental situations.High reliability is ensured by theelectronic control gear, the innovativeLED technology and the special liquidpaint treatment of the fittings. The environmental operationtemperature ranges from -25°Cto +32°C, but the LED temperaturecontrol system enlarges the operationrange with a partial reductionof the emitted flux.

Extreme operating conditionsThe products adjust their operationto the environmental temperatureconditions. Because of the lowjunction temperature of LEDs andthe temperature control system,the lighting fixtures can work inextreme environmental conditions,unlike for instance with fluorescence.

Paint treatmentThe special liquid paint treatment usedfor the fixtures is much more efficientthan powder paint. It is more compactand uniform, with higher resistance to weather agents and UV radiation,ensuring a higher uniformity of theRAL colour.The saline fog tests carried out in theiGuzzini laboratory ensure the totalreliability of the paint treatment.

A special study was conducted for theprismatic diffuser which allowed usto obtain complete light distribution,so that Glim Cube could become ahighly versatile and complete system.

The special combination of the curvedscreen and of the powerful LED whenapplied as wall-washers generatesexcellent uniformity on walls withoutlight spotting.

The versions with stainless steel armsare particularly suitable when lightingpassageways and pathways inresidential areas, guaranteeing minimalintrusiveness of the lighting body.

Light has always had a fundamentalrole. And it's on light that iGuzzini hasfounded its corporate identity anddeveloped its research. Either naturalor artificial, light is part of our life andaffects our biological rhythms anddaily activities. Over the years iGuzzinihas carried out an intense researchprogramme that has led to thedevelopment of lighting managementsystems to take full advantage ofcorrect lighting.

Back in 1988 the investigationstarted with Sivra; in collaborationwith Spazio S.a.S of Milan, theNational Research Institute, theLighting Research Center of theRensselaer Polytechnic Instituteof Troy and Futuro of Florence.The project demonstrated theimportance of correct lightingmanagement in work activities.Originally developed as a solution toproblems encountered in enclosed

settings, Sivra (Variable LightingSystem with Automatic Regulation)showed that the use of light canstimulate the human body, improveconcentration and productivity skills.Sivra is the first concrete result of theinvestigation, which has continueduninterrupted since then.

Natural light, in its daily rhythm, can be considered life’s very clock,producing scientifically measuredpsychological and biological effectson human beings. The iGuzzinibiodynamic lighting systemsreproduce, in areas where they areinstalled, Bright Light and dynamic light.Bright Light is light that is, by virtueof very intense lighting (over 2500 lux),able to augment the production ofhormones in our bodies duringthe hours we are awake.The desire to sleep will diminish,making us more active and receptive toexternal stimuli, positively influencingour mental states and improving ourmood without producing stress.

Dynamic light, changes lightinglevels and colour temperatures.It increases the stimulating capabilityof the space and it keeps our mindsactive. This is an important issue ifyou consider that today the majorityof work spaces are not the slighteststimulating. Dynamic light alsocreates a temporary dimension justlike sunlight, giving us a chronologicalmeasurement of time.

For a long time now the perception oflight has been changing in the sectorof lighting systems. In buildings it hasbecome indispensable to add controlsystems to the lighting bodies, inorder to obtain perfect integrationbetween artificial and natural light. The primary objective is to saveenergy, but it is also possible to move from static to dynamic light, with a consistent increase of performance and comfort.For building automation, the MasterPro system, based on LonWorks®

technology, proposes a flexible, optimised, strong solution which isalso easy to install. The system ishigh-performing and versatile, with noadded complexity for the final user. Light switch-on and off and its regulation can either be carried outmanually or automatically by usingsensors which regulate artificial light,so as to compensate the contributionof natural light.

It is also possible to use a motiondetector, or to program the activations. It is possible to memorisescenarios or light sequences and to call them in by simply pressing abutton or a key on a remote control.With Master Pro the local management of the plant can bemade through a PC software whichdisplays the maps and makes it possible to interact with the lightingparts with a simple click on themouse. Light management is extended to RGB lighting sources.This management can be distributedon all the computers connected to the same LAN network, extending the LonWorks® protocol on TCP/IP.In terms of maintenance, Master Pro uses a remote connectionmade possible through a simplemodem or Internet.

The luminaires in the iGuzzini collection are designed in conformance with European standardsEN 60598-1 and more specific ones, therefore meeting these requirements in full, includingthe maximum temperatures allowed and considering the ambient temperature to be 25°C. For those countries or areas where the luminaires are to be installed with thermal andmicroclimatic references which are different from those foreseen (e.g.: swimming pools,premises subject to the risk of explosion, etc…), we invite you to contact us. For the correctinstallation of the luminaires, always consult the instruction sheet provided with the product.

GUARANTEEIn compliance with European norms, we guarantee our products against defects pertaining to theirconformance with the sales contract for two years after delivery of the product, as long as saiddefect is reported within and no later than two months from its discovery.
