And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?”

because they realized it was the Lord. Jesus came over and took

the bread and gave it to them, and in like manner the fish. This

him, rooted and built up in him and established in the

faith, just as you were taught, fi lled with thanksgiving.”

Colossians 2.

SERRA VOCATION THOUGHT

Parents, do you encourage your children to developtheir talents and gis? Do you encourage your childrento think of church as a possible vocaon?

FROM THE PASTOR…

Today, we connue to celebrate the resurrecon of the Lord and His triumph over death and sin. The Eastercelebraons we had here at the parish were absolutelywonderful, and I want to thank everyone who workedso hard to make them so beauful. As everyone knows,it takes a whole community to plan the Easter Triduum.

I would like to personally thank my Franciscan brotherpriests for all they did, the musicians and everyone in-volved in the music ministry, the parish staff , our volun-teers and ministers, all those who made the Serra Cen-ter, Serra Gardens and Parish Chapel look so beau-ful. And thank you to those who donated the Easterflowers. They looked spectacular!

This is my first Easter here as pastor. For me, it wasa very moving experience to celebrate the sacred mys-teries with all of you. With your warm good wishes itreally made me feel at home at MSLRP.

Last Sunday, Divine Mercy Sunday, is a favorite of mine. When I was a new priest in Tucson Arizona, Iused to go to the prisons every week and celebrateMass. The devoon to the Divine Mercy is a very popu-lar devoon in the prison in Tucson. I think the reasonthis is because the message Jesus gives through the Di-vine Mercy is simple but profound. The mercy of God ismore powerful than any sin we could ever commit. Youoen see the painng with the words, “Jesus, I trust inyou.” For me, this seems to be one of the most basicrealies of our lives. We have to learn to trust in Je-

sus. We have to learn that we are really loved by God,that ulmately good triumphs over evil.

This Sunday, the third Sunday of Easter, we see Peterbeing instructed by the Lord to go feed His sheep. Itseems to me that this is what Jesus is calling each of usto do. We should look out for one another and be thepresence of Christ for each other as much as possi-ble. Just as Jesus said this to Peter 2000 years ago, hesays that to us today. Even though the circumstancesof our lives are very diff erent than that of the Apostles, the message is meless and valid today.

I wish each of you personally and all of us collecvelyas a parish to have a profound experience of the RisenLord in this Easter season.Happy Easter! Alleluia, Alleluia!

Fr. David

¡Feliz Pas-cua! ¡Aleluya! ¡Aleluya!

Many of you ask:What does the Las Madrinas Altar Societyof Mission San Luis Rey do?
