OMMS T I

Recently our Pastor, Father David, and Chief Oper-a ng Officer, Kathleen Flanagan, announced two truly wonderful gi s to our Parish School. The first is an anonymous dona on to assist students/families in con nuing at Old Mission Montessori School next year. Families are asked to submit their completed registra on form on or before Wednesday, April 30. If the completed registra on including the registra on fee is received on or before Wednesday, April 30, each registered student’s tui on will be credited $100, but only as funds will allow. Once the funds from this gi are depleted, the $100 credit will not be available so register early. The second anonymous gi comes in the form of a matching grant for our school’s Technology Ini a-

ve. OMMS is in the process of installing smart boards, projectors and laptops in each classroom with the goal of having these opera onal at the beginning of the school year. Smart Boards allow teachers to de-liver dynamic lessons, write notes in digital ink and save their work – all with the touch of a finger. This technology encourages student interac on and cap-tures the a en on of learners as teachers pull mul -media resources and the internet into their presenta-

on of our curriculum. We are also in the process of a much needed update of our Technology Labs and classroom computer equipment. Our anonymous do-nor has offered to match up to $8,000.00 in funds we raise for technology. If you’d like to help us take advantage of this match-ing grant by dona ng to the school, please go to www.sanluisreyparish.org and click on the PARISH OF-FICE tab. Choose ONLINE GIVING. Under “fund” choose “Contribu ons/Dona ons to School.” In the memo area, write “Technology” and your contribu on will go toward this special matching grant. You can also drop a check by the school during office hours or place it in the Offertory Basket on Sunday with your check made out to OMMS, with Technology in the subject line. On behalf of all of us at Old Mission Montessori School, we extend our hear elt gra tude to our anon-ymous donors and to our parish family for their assis-tance to our Parish School and belief in Catholic edu-ca on. We are genuinely blessed to be the Parish School where educa on and faith are united!

The Promise of God’s Uncondi onal Love and Infinite Generosity

The church has always encouraged authen c and balanced forms of devo on that will help the faith-ful to deepen their apprecia on of the Eucharist. The First Friday devo on is dedicated to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus and is associated with St. Mary Margaret Alacoque who was given the gi of an intense grace filled prayer life. In her mys cal insights (visions) she was given messages to fight the heresy of Jansenism that drove people away from God. The devo on to the Sacred Heart of Jesus empha-sizes the mercy and love of God and encourages believers to frequently receive communion. Through receiving the sacrament, people will come to experience and know the uncondi onal love of God. On First Fridays (Friday, May 2), parishioners gather a er the Daily Mass and spend from 8:00-10:00 a.m. in Eucharis c Adora on. People pray for themselves and the church to always prac ce and experience the mystery of receiving communion and par cipa ng in the sacramental encounter with Jesus. Please join the members of our parish in this very important part of the church’s devo onal life.

First Friday Devo on
