SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES

A Small Chris an Community is a group of Chris ans (approximately 6-12 members) who come together on a regular basis. They pray, break open God’s word, share their faith stories, and deepen their understanding of Catholic tradi ons. The members challenge each other to live out the gospel in family life,

in neighborhoods, and in the workplace, as they reach out in service to the larger community.

FROM THE PASTOR…

Peace and all good! I assume all of us are happy for the change in cool weather and now we’re back into autumn, and into our normal rou ne; the kids are back in school and we are doing all the usual ac vi es. There is a certain rhythm to our personal lives as well as our liturgical lives. I found the summer very nice, but am glad we are back into our normal liturgical rhythm. It seems that me moves quickly; September is already gone. I’d like to thank all of you who par cipated and reflected in September on our stewardship as a parish. As you all know, September is designated as Stewardship month where we looked at our me, treasure and talent. We reflected on all the gi s God has given us and looked collec vely and individually on how we can help evange-lize and witness God’s word. While the parish finances are a big part of Steward-ship, it’s much more than just money; it also involves how we offer to God and our community our me and talents. Last Sunday was Welcome Sunday. I’d like to thank those who helped organize it and all the ministries who volunteered their me and talent to make this event a successful one. Some mes people are amazed at how many different ministry and volunteer groups there are at the parish. It’s a great parish! If you are not already involved, I encour-age you to offer your me and talent also. This weekend we are celebra ng the great feast of St. Francis, patron and founder of the Franciscan family. We had a lot of tradi onal ac vi es including: Transitus, The Blessing of the Animals and The Evening with the Friars. We friars have been here for many, many years and many of you have too. Since this is a Franciscan Parish and Mission, we are all Franciscans, therefore, I wish you all a Happy Feast of St. Francis.

Fraternally,

Fr. David

DISH GARDEN - WELCOME CENTER OLD MISSION

One of the things that make the dish gardens sold at the Welcome Center so unique is the fun way that the volun-teers pair found and donated objects with drought tolerant succulent plants. But under the guidance of Shalene Solari, an ar st and dish garden volunteer, we have expanded the scope of our ar s c expression to include hand painted ter-raco a pots. The pots have been wonderfully successful and now once every other month we hold a seasonally rele-vant pain ng class. Our next batch of containers will be dec-orated with sugar skulls in an cipa on of the “Day of the Dead” celebra on. For more informa on about the Dish Gardens and/or to join the class, please contact Chalene Solari at 707-367-2895 / [email protected].

DE NUESTRO PÁRROCO… ¡Paz y bien!

Si aún no estás invo-lucrado, te animo a ofrecer tu empo y tu talento tam-bién. Fraternalmente, Padre David
