FROM THE PASTOR...

To support the ongoing needs of our

parish community, we've asked for pa-

rishioners to make a commitment to a

weekly program of sacrificial giving. As

this program wraps up, I'd like to say

thank you for your aenon to our Stewardship Cam-

paign during Mass the last few months and for everyone

who reflected on Stewardship and parcipated. I am

very grateful for those who turned in their pledge

cards. To those who were able to increase their weekly

or monthly contribuon, I'd like to thank you.

St. Paul once said to the Corinthians: "Our desire is not

that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed,

but that there might be equality" in generosity.

(8:13). Our generosity and care for others is not sup-

posed to impoverish us. So, there are some who were

not able to give further and we understand and thankyou sincerely for turning in your commitment card.

Some of you might be wondering, how is the Steward-

ship campaign doing? We will be pung in a monthly

recap to reflect our overall numbers. Though you will

see an increase, we are sll not able to meet all of our

operaonal costs fully from what we receive from Sun-

day collecons. We are making up the difference with

bingo and rental revenue, which I really would like to

save to fix up the parish kitchens, our parking lots, and

other deferred maintenance issues.

I thought it was interesng that the first week I talked

about Stewardship from the pulpit, we had a big increase

in our collecon that weekend. Then the very next week

aer that, the collecon dropped below normal for last

year. The week aer that, it went back up to nor-

mal. The fourth week, it jumped up. It was not a huge

jump, but it went up. I am very grateful for everyone

who acvely contributed to the support of the parish,

but it's hard for me to figure out how to budget when

our collecons go up and down.

Are you sll holding on to your commitment cards,

praying about your gi? I know that these are hard eco-

nomic mes, but if we all pull together as a parish family,

we'll be able to meet our operaonal expenses. The

commitment card collecon boxes will be available for

one more week in the Serra Center. Aer that me,

please bring your cards to the parish office. It's not too

late to join us in the collecve financial support of our

parish. Thank you for believing in our mission to live and

share the message of Jesus Christ. As Advent connues, I

wish you hope and joy. May the Lord bless you for the

blessings you give.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL 2012 NEWSONE HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH

Thank you for all those who parcipated in last year'sAnnual Catholic Appeal. As everyone knows, this moneygoes for the support of our Diocese, seminarians, poorparishes, Catholic Charies etc. Our support is very im-portant because it makes our parish part of the universal

church. All of our parishes together make up the Bodyof Christ.

Our goal for 2012 was $64,000. Many of you pledgedand gave generously to this cause. Thank you, thankyou, thank you! We raised a total, through direct dona-ons and pledges, close to $60,000. The balance of ourparish goal will be paid for from Bingo proceeds.

In the words of Bishop Brom, May God, who is neveroutdone in generosity, bless you abundantly for yourgis to the Body of Christ.

beginning at 7:00 pmThe Fesval of Nine Lesson and Carols is a service of

Chrisan Worship celebrang the birth of Jesus that is

tradionally held at Christmas. We follow the story of thefall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah and the

birth of Jesus through bible readings, interspersed with

choir carols and hymns. It is a tradion that began in Eng-

land over 130 years ago and spread to Chrisan churches

in the United States and other parts of the world.

The Shepherd Choir, Samoan Youth Choir and Sunday

Night Ensemble will present the program which will also

include prayers and community singing.

Nocias de la Pecin Catlica Anual del 2012Una Comunidad de Fe

Gracias a todos aquellos que parciparon en la Pecin Cat-

lica Anual este ao. Como todos saben, este dinero es para el

apoyo de nuestra Dicesis, los seminarios, las parroquias

necesitadas, Caridades Catlicas, etc. Nuestro apoyo es muy

importante porque hace que nuestra parroquia forme parte

de la Iglesia Universal. Todas las parroquias unidas forman el

Cuerpo de Cristo.

Nuestra meta del 2012 fue de $ 64,000. Muchos de ustedes

contribuyeron y dieron generosamente a esta causa.

Gracias, gracias, gracias! Por medio de donaciones directas y

de compromisos, nosotros reunimos cerca de $60,000. El

balance de nuestra meta se pagar por medio de las ganan-

cias del Bingo.

En las palabras del Obispo Brom, Que Dios, que nunca es

superado en generosidad, los bendiga abundantemente por

sus regalos al Cuerpo de Cristo.

Para apoyar las necesidades actuales de

nuestra comunidad parroquial, les hemos

pedido a nuestros feligreses que hagan un

compromiso semanal al programa de dar

con sacrificio. Al llegar al fin de este pro-

grama, yo quisiera decirles gracias por su

atencin a nuestra Campaa de Corres-ponsabilidad durante las Misas en los l-

mos meses y por todos los que reflexionaron sobre la corres-

ponsabilidad y parciparon. Yo estoy muy agradecido a aque-

llos que entregaron sus tarjetas de compromiso. A todos

aquellos que pudieron incrementar su contribucin semanal o

mensual, quiero agradecerles.

San Pablo una vez les dijo a los Corinos: No se trata de

que otros tengan abundancia y que a ustedes les falte, sino de

que haya igualdad (2 Corinos 8:13). Nuestra generosidad y

nuestro cuidado por los dems no se supone que debe de

empobrecernos. As que, hay algunos que no pudieron dar

ms y lo comprendemos y les agradecemos sinceramente que

hayan entregado su tarjeta de compromiso.

Algunos de ustedes se estarn preguntando, cmo va la

campaa de corresponsabilidad? Nosotros pondremos un

resumen mensual para reflejar el total de los nmeros. Sin

embargo, aunque vern un aumento, nosotros an no hemos

podido cubrir completamente todos nuestros costos de ope-

racin con lo que recibimos de las colectas del domingo. Esta-

mos haciendo la diferencia con los ingresos del bingo y del

alquiler, el cual en realidad me gustara ahorrar para reparar

las cocinas de la parroquia, nuestros estacionamientos, y

otras cuesones de mantenimiento.

Fue interesante ver que la primera semana que yo habl

sobre la corresponsabilidad del plpito, ese fin de semana

tuvimos un gran aumento en nuestra colecta. Luego una se-

mana despus, la colecta baj menos que la colecta normal

del ao pasado. La semana siguiente, subi de nuevo a lo

normal. La cuarta semana, aument ms. No fue un gran au-

mento, pero aument. Yo estoy muy agradecido por todos

aquellos quienes contribuyeron acvamente para apoyar a la

parroquia, pero es dicil para m poder imaginar como hacer

un presupuesto cuando nuestras colectas suben y bajan.

Ustedes an enen sus tarjetas de compromiso, y estn

orando sobre su regalo? Yo se que estos son momentos dici-

les en la economa, pero si todos nos unimos como una fami-

lia parroquial, vamos a ser capaces de cumplir con nuestros

gastos de operacin. Las cajas para depositar las tarjetas de

compromiso estarn disponibles una semana ms en el Cen-

tro Serra. Despus de esto, por favor traigan sus tarjetas a la

oficina parroquial.

No es demasiado tarde para unirse a nosotros en el apoyo

financiero colecvo de nuestra parroquia. Gracias por creer

en nuestra misin de vivir y comparr el mensaje de Jesu-

cristo. Al connuar el Adviento, yo les deseo esperanza y

alegra. Que el Seor les bendiga por las bendiciones que

ustedes dan.
